On Day 1

I am on day 1 of coming off of percocet. I was taking quite a bit of pills (perc 30s and 10s being my drug of choice) and have tried to come off of these things more than once. Back in June of 2010 I managed to be clean for a week so I would not be high for my wedding and it was extremely easy to do. Unfortunately after the wedding I started taking them again because I thought it was a good idea after all the anxiety that came with the wedding, bad idea that was. A few months back (Sept) I made it to 72 hours clean and of course thought to myself I can just take 1 perc to get through the night and here I am 3 months later back at square 1. I don't need someone to tell me how long it will take because I know how long it can take but I am looking for support. My husband is very supportive as he is going through this with me. I am about take hang on for dear life over the next few days and need some feedback.

Thanks for all the responses, I am almost at 24 hours, 3 mores hours to go. I definitely do not feel as anxious as last time, but still am feeling uneasy. I have been trying to stay hydrated, and watch a lot of TV to keep my mind occupied. I can definitely say with confidence I am ready to free myself of this demon, my husband as well. We both screwed up and now we both are kicking this! I am sure I will be on again within the next few hours to post again. It helps to have the support of everyone who is or was going through the same thing

I am with you! Just took my last pill approximately 2 hours ago. I also just found this site and this is my 1st post. I am a decades long user/abuser of mainly vicodin and percocet. It sounds like you know what is ahead of us regarding the detox/withdrawal. I know it's going to be a miserable weekend but you are not alone! I'm glad you have the support of your husband. I have my 3 cats! LOL! Anyway, hang in there and be strong. It's going to be worth it in the end to be clean and healthy. I'm here if you need to talk...

First check out the Thomas Recipe (if you haven't already)  It really does help. Please don't be so hard on yourself.  I am on day 5 of detox off of oxycontin and dialaudid which I took for years for chronic pain.  It has been horrible but if you have the right mindset and the support you can do this.  Believe in yourself(:  And of course aftercare N/A or counselling will be important for you so you can identify the triggers that made you use and find new ways to cope.  Good luck and keep posting.  Support to you(:
