Methadone detox

For almost two years now I have had suspicions of my spouse being addicted to methadone. Four days ago, he finally admitted to me that he was taking it and wanted help. He is now on day 6 of detoxing cold turkey off of 60 mgs a day. To give a background of how it started: a little over two years ago, he fell off a roof and hurt his back. He begain taking vicodin (prescribed) for that and when he ran out of his presciption started buying them off the streets. He wanted off of those and heard that he could take an opiate blocker to get off of them, which he researched to be methadone. But of course as most of you probably know, that was the worse thing he could have done. He was taking 120 mgs of methadone a day and weaned himself down to 60 when he decided to go cold turkey. I am his only support right now to fight this addiction (he isn't ready to tell his family), so my question is what can I do to help him through the withdrawal symptoms at home (we have no money now b/c of his addiction and losing his job, our only income)?

I've been reading posts all night it seems. I started him on a multivitamin and benadryl to hopefully help with sleep (which he is doing right now). I have some Valerian Root here that I think may be helpful for his anxiety and depression he's having, but I'm not certain. I have no way of getting everything needed for the Thomas recipe.
