Sudafed (pseudoephedrine)

On Thursday morning I took 60mg of Sudafed for allergies.  Only
Time I ever took it, just the one dose
The following Monday I had a random drug test through work
It is now Friday.  About 90 or 92 hrs later
Never used any sort of drug.  But worried
About a false positive because I remember reading
It somewhere.
Haven't heard anything yet.  Just figured I'd ask

Had an addiction.  He is 4 years clean.

Yep! I know and as we Age the old Bones get to hurting. Maybe in the future they will have something that is just Amazing and Non-Addicting. Ha!!

And it does not mess with the Brain and all that Crazy Thinking! LOL

Awe Vic,I hope your back pain is ok!! This is the hard part I find of being off the meds. I hate pain,and im in it constantly. Buuuut it's better than the alternative!

Yup Monday.  
They did and instant one that was clean.
Then they sent 2 containers to a lab
Somewhere as well.
Your right.  The Internet makes a guy think
False positives happen frequently.  
I would have never thought twice if I
Hadn't remembered an article on
Psuedoephedrine.  Then I googled and found
Crap on it that made me a bit nervous.  
I'll laugh about it someday.

That was some Great Info from ABN.

I know that they will do this with your urine and a dip stick..(sort of speaking) right there in the office. And/or some places will or DO send it off to be broke down. I went to the Pain Dr the other day about possible shots on down the line in my Back, only if it does get worse in the future. They wanted urine again and I told them I was NOT looking for ANY Pain Pill at ALL..but it was just a Procedure. However, they did test it there and it was Negative..(of coarse).
They said they send theirs off for a further breakdown at a Lab. It was A-OK to me. I know it was clean. Ha!!

I do think YOU will be Fine!

Like "acting brand new" said,I think you'll be just fine. It was just allergy meds. Sometimes ppl post crap on sites then it scares the innocent ones so bad. Everything will be ok. And IF something were to happen and you had to have that test they should be embarrassed,not you. For paying the money to find sudafed. Plus I think they would have contacted you by now if it came up negative. you took it Monday you said? All my tests were done and back before I could pick up my meds.(been clean 10 months now though (: )

Yup just sudogest. I took two 30 mg tablets.
Gosh I hope 92 hours was enough to clear it
Out.  I just don't want to have to cause the expense
Of the other test.  Plus it would be embarrassing!

If your test comes back positive, do not worry. All you have to do is ask to have gas chromatography/mass spectrometry performed on the specimen. When an employer tests you, they send it to the lab. The lab then splits the sample in half. One half of the sample is tested while the other half is stored for a period of time. If you test positive for anything, the lab will only perform gas chromatography/mass spectrometry as your employers request. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry breaks it down to the exact substance you were using. they will be able to tell if you were taking meth, Adderal, or just OTC allergy medicine. If your employer refuses your request, contact your local U.S. Labor Department.

As long as its just allergy medication, you have nothing to worry about. I test 20 people a week and have to request gas chromatography/mass spectrometry all the time when there's a dispute.

I would just like you to know there are No such thing as a Dumb Question on this Forum. Ha!!!

I did see one time that someone did put up a Journal that had all these over the counter meds that sometimes can come up as certain types of drugs.
However, In your case I think Krissy is right!

I have been clean for 3 yrs now and I had to do a Test the other day. I was so baffled and took another one later. They came up with a smear of POT! Get real I am 59yrs old and Pot & I do not see eye to eye for one thing and another is I am working to stay off of any Substances these days.
SO..If it does happen to come up false positive (which it does happen in some cases) tell them what you took and/or get another test done. I fought this one NOT to be in my Charts because I KNOW it was WRONG!!!

I figured 90 hours should be enough to metabolize a small
Dose of allergy med.  I was worried because I guess
They make meth out of it.  
I just bought it at pharmacy.  It's behind
Counter but no prescription required.  
Found its only thing that clears my sinuses.

Also I was drug tested often because I was on a narcotic drug for so many years prescribed by my doctor and I'd take sudafed and Benadryl through the spring for my allergies and I never failed a test.

I think you'll be fine. I'm sure these cases you hear are rare and the People are probably using some other substances.
