Addicted to pain medicine

I have been on various pain meds for a couple years. I was taking them solely for pain management. And now I take them to feel good as well. I don't know how to get off of them. I know I need too and I feel so guilty.

You need to be completely honest with your doctor about this.  Cutting off your sources is a must.  What are you taking and how much?  Check into some sort of aftercare also.  Using is only a symptom of what is going on.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Cricket. Once we cross the line from using them for pain then pleasure we are addicted. If you need them for pain you will need to turn them over to someone who can hide then and dole them out to you so you do not abuse. What most of us had to do was get off them completely and deal we have found in most cases the pain to be much less then when first prescribed.. My only suggestion is to cancel any refills and deal with the wd give yourself a few months and see how you feel I have a feeling you will enjoy being yourself again. The meds rob us of our emotions of being present of our laughter. I do hope you decide to claim your life back from these soul sucking drugs. I wish you well. lesa
