Wean off Hydro

Hey everyone.  I have been on 6 10mg of Lortab for the past 4 years.  I am done with them.  I never want to touch them again.  I started weaning on monday.  But was a very fast wean.  Monday i took 4, Tues, 3, wed 2, Thurs 2 and today have taken none.  I am off and on with my withdrawls.  I started the Thomas recipe and have been feeling ok in the morning, but as the day goes on start feeling worse and worse.  I was wondering how weening will affect my detox?  Ive been feeling pretty bad since monday.  Do i still have 3-4 days to go since i took 1/2 yesterday?  Today is the first day i have had a fever.  I felt great this morning, now all the sudden feel horrible.

Can someone please help on what to expect?  I thought i was doing right by being strong enough to wean like i have, but am now thinking i have just made the detox last longer?

Thank you so much for all of your support.  Today is a new day and i feel good so far.  Its scary to think i could get to feeling bad tonight, but im trying not to think about it.  I ate today for the first time in 3 days, and actually kept it all down.  I am really starting to see the light and cannot wait for my new life to start.

Hopefully it will just get better from here.

actually weaning that fast will still be the same...not too much different...those who cut .5 mgs a week or so maybe do get a break but they still feel a bit for a long time..going quick like u did is how i did too..cos i was plain over it and before when i tried to cut down i never made it..would end up right back where i was before

I was at 100 mgs of hydro..could get by on 80 mgs..for 3-4 yrs when i quit..the wds for me/physical were like 4 days and back to work day 5..so u shouldnt have too much longer to go..give it a few days...also if u used more at night then that is when u feel it most...i used during the day for nrg..at night/even during wds..i felt fairly normal...my body wasnt used to having them after 5 pm..so wait it out and keep posting

hah that is not a wean, that is torture.
so you have to choose. wean or cold turkey.
personally, i weaned over 1 month and it went pretty smooth. but you do have to spread it out a bit more.
i think my recovery went pretty well. no depression or cravings or sleep problems. in fact i slept alot. taking naps everyday.
my wean started at 90 mg. hydrocodone a day to 10 mg. that i split in half and took both halves the last day at different times. my habit was for 4 years.

P.S,

scroll down to the bottom right and check out the PAWS link. It has some really good information on what you may experience over the next few days and beyond. I've read it over and over since I forget what I read pretty quickly. That's just part of recovery. Eat whole foods and drink plenty of water...or better yet... lemon juice and water. Squeeze fresh lemons if you can. Drink this warm with honey, it can make you feel better if you experience chills and lemon juice helps cleanse your system. One supplement I don't remember reading in the ThomasRecipe is Magnesium. Magnesium is necessary for healthy nervous response and I was given it in Detox. I use it at home in a powdered formula called Calm.

You didn't do anything wrong! I went through a weaning process that covered a 4 month period and what I got was 3 months of intense withdrawl. I wish I had just gone cold turkey and gotten it over with, but then I don't know how that would have felt. You nearly went Cold Turkey basically . You cut your dose so rapidly that you really didn't have time to "wean off". If you made the withdrawl last longer it was only by a day or two I would think. You are in for a few days of discomfort, but it will get better. Don't expect to feel gradually better each day. I'm on day 17 and have had ups and downs. Today was a good day so far. Keep posting. I found that the mental concentration required to post kept my mind occupied and it really helped me. Everyone is different in how their body reacts to withdrawl and recovery, but one thing is sure...the process leads to a better place than where you were before you decided to quit.

Don't give up! It's so worth the effort to be free. Life will begin to look better very soon. I know it's hard to imagine as you are in the grips of Accute Withdrawl, but trust what you read on this board. We are all here to support each other and to find comfort in this very difficult struggle. I'm cheering for you!
