Want to get off xanax!!!

Hi I have been taking Xanax for about 2 months and am up to about 2 mg/day. I want to know the best way to taper off. Since it hasn't been that long since i have been using I thought it would be eaiser to taper. I've read that tapering .25 mg a week to two weeks is sufficient but would like some more opinions.

Thanks alot!!!!

best off to have a doctor involved its not as mechanical as you make it out to be there will be doses that you will have to stay at for a wile till your gaba receptors get use to the lower dose 2mg might not sound like much but with xanex it is I detoxed off of 4mg and it took almost a yr so let your doctor know you want off and like Vicki says slow is the best way....good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

Hi-  The secret to a good taper is dropping small amounts very slowly and over a period of time. Okay? Very slowly is the key.

The absolute best thing to do is to speak with your doctor about this ;)

Hi - welcome to the forum.  We can't give tapering schedules on the forum.  It is against the rules.  You are lucky that you have not been taking it for too long.  Good for you to want to get off this drug.  I suggest you talk to your dr even though you have only been on this for two months.  Good luck!
