Day 32 Methadone Withdrawal

Feeling pretty good today. Depression comes and goes, energy is still low but tolerable. I am sleeping for 4 to 5 hours now but still waking up because of my legs hurting. I'm just toughing it out, reminding myself all of this will be over soon and it's so worth this pain to be able to be clean and sober. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life but I'm so happy to say Ive been clean for 32 days! Anyways , good day everyone! Stay strong.

P.S. Anyone else out there in a similar situation and still having rls? I'm still freaked out the rls is permanent or something.

I just wanted to offer you a Big Kudos on your 32nd day off M'done!! Yup, it's one of the toughest things you'll ever do but it's one of the bravest & healthiest choices you can make for yourself & for those you care for. It's great to hear that your legs are doing a little better. I know that it s*cks but try not to worry too much. The RLS will pass while the mental stress of fretting will definitely slow your healing. Your symptoms will resolve one by one gradually. The warm spring sun of your new life is peeking through those clouds. So, continue to be courageous, keep up the great attitude & stay focused. You're doing wonderfully! :)

Just you sleeping shows me you will bounce back real soon. I have always drank that Tonic..hahaha Maybe that is why I did not have the RLS this time around like I told you in your other post. (one night when I did take a sleeping pill that is why I stopped those right off)
Just be Safe and keep on keeping..You will get better & better as each months goes bye. Also I told you that after my Bath I got under a Heating Blanket for the Bone aches and such..Try it for the legs too!!

PS Do not forget to take Magnesium & Potassium at night..These clam the Muscles down and so much more.

Hey Congrats on 32 Hard EARNED DAYS!!! Luckily I did not get RL this time around but did when I cold turkied off Subs a few years back ... I remember rubbing bengay on my legs I believe it was a menthol one. Also Tonic water helps with leg cramps.
Keep up the great work ... It is worth it!

Thank you guys! I wish you lots of luck on your journeys as well.  I've heard that before about the tonic water, I'll have to try it. It's getting a little better with the Hylands and wrapping my legs and I stopped taking sleeping pills which I think Made the rls way worse. It's not a throbbing pain anymore but now just feel like I ran a marathon which is still annoying but now as bad.

I had acute RLS for a few months, most severe being the first 6 wks or so. I then wondered the same thing as you, "Is this as good as it gets?" Being a research junkie, I followed the biology and chemistry of my body. My synthetic biochemistry was gone after many years of being the norm. My nerveous system was sending false signals of pain and muscle reaction. Physical therapy helped with that. Exercises that help retrain appropriate responses sent to the brain. I think those phantom signals continued to be sent for a long time, though it slowly improved as new experiences trained my brain to actually recognize threats. You see, my brain had started treating lack of drugs as a life threatening situation. When I have actually been in life threatening situations, I know my muscles get antsy, my mind is anxious, and I just want to escape. It took a long time for those things to change, not sure it was the slow methadone detox or the habits of my mind. I believe they were woven together with survival to such an extent, it was a little of both. Exercise, new memories, and self awareness are what made my RLS, nerve twitches, and pain decrease. The power of thought is amazing. Hang in there, it will keep getting better. Just be better, it will start to feel better.
