Spoke to soon II

Thanks everyone for the help last night.  I felt a little deflated.  You all encouraged me to look into some kind of aftercare and I'm doing my research.  If anyone is aware of a good program in the Portland,Oregon area that is not faith based or judgmental would be appreciated.  thanks.

Hey Brad - noted you said you had the chills, etc today.  Unfortunately that is totally normal.  I detoxed in June of last year and had a heater in my office in the middle of summer.  It takes some time, but each day does get better.  Just bundle up and have some fun with it.  I got to laughing because I would be on the couch with my buddy - he would be in shorts and hot and I would be wrapped in a blanket.  This is just your body adjusting and healing.

Also, Ga Guy is right, there are lots of different themed NA groups available for everyone, even in the smaller towns. Portland is wide open.

Brad, I'd be surprised if there wasn't gay themed 12 step meetings in Portland. I live in a town a third that size and we have two.

Brad, please don't give up on AA or NA yet. If you find a 12 step program that's honest to the program, then religion should have no bearing on you being able to participate. You may have to go to a few different meetings (I had to go to 10 or so to find the right ones). It says right in the readings in our groups that we don not discriminate because of religion, lack of religion, or sexual preference. People in 12 step programs that do that should be ashamed of themselves.
