question about crank

My wife did crank for a year, she has been off of it for 2 years now, my question is, are there any long term effects you can have even after 2 years of not using it? If so what are some of them? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I had a very good friend accused of doing drugs on the job. I knew he wasn't, because he didn't do any type of drugs. It caused a lot of hard feelings and really affected his job performance and he soon left. It's a tough balance, we don't have a random drug testing policy and to start one now wouldn't be easy. I am concerned with the legal aspect of if someone was hurt, at work, and it was tied to her using illigal drugs could the company be held responcible? If she is using drugs, I feel a moral responcability if she is using drugs to get her help.

If shes your employee cant you do a drug test on her? At my place of employment they have done random UA,s on us, its happened to me twice in 7 years & thank goodness I stopped taking oxycodone prior to getting my job, or Id of been fired a long time ago. In regards to the strange odor you are smelling, sure it can be crank but it can also be many other different things. But the red flag comes up when you say, shes cleaning her house all night long & she cant sleep. At the end of the day without actual proof, you must be very careful how you approach this situation, because if she,s not using meth & you call her out on it, it could have a ugly back lash, on the flip side, people who use drugs on the job are at a much higher risk for job injurys & calling in sick, etc. Penelope

First off, I would never accuse anyone of using illegal drugs without proof. However I have an employee that comes to work in the morning with a strange body odor and many mornings she bounces from one task to another. As the day goes on the odor seems to go away and she calms down. She also has times when her hands shake so badly you can read her writing then other times she has perfect hand writing. She also makes comments about cleaning her house all night and not being able to sleep. Do these symptoms fit meth use?

This is Mrs. Savas speaking (Savas is just taking dictation. :) )

Hi,

Well, if she only did it for a year, she's probably fine.  There are absolutely long-term possible effects from doing a lot of amphetamine (been there and so were a lot of my friends - all of us did it for longer than a year, sadly).  It can have long term mental effects, it can weaken your heart, leaving you more vulnerable to heart attacks and other heart conditions and diseases.  It can leave you open to possible strokes (although that is usually more of a danger when you are actually using) and it can have long term effects on blood pressure.  There are also seizures and neurological effects that can result from speed use.

Like I said, after one year, she's almost certainly fine.  But you might want to tell to look into this stuff if you think there's a danger of her using again or if you think she might be using now.

It depends how much you've got!  AND how the addict is taking it.  Smoking it, forget it....that'll consume ya!  II've sniffed it and smoked it.  But got over it.  Enough was enough.  I gave it up when I was about 20. I've never shot up...I know people who have.  They really are LOST too.  Never the same.  Total geekers that likeworried said, can;'t complete sentences.  So sad,

Yeah, I guess I agree with the above, it can cause permanent damage.  It affects everyone differently, though...

Yes it can cause permanent damage. You can develop habits while you are on meth and then when you come off the habits stay with you for the rest of your life. Thats just an example of the mental part of it. The physical damage is unreal. Maybe you could give us some examples of some of the things that she is doing. Maybe I could give you some advice. I know lots of people addicted to meth and my best friend experienced meth induced physcosis and was locked up in a mental institute. Good luck and I am looking foward to hearing back from you.

"Crank", "Meth", "Crystal".... Whatever you want to call it can DEFINITELY have long term affects on the brain and in some cases cause DRAMATIC brain disfunction.  There are literally hundreds of different recipies for making this drug and it totally depends on what was in it.  There really is no way to know!  It is seriously the most devestating drug on this planet.  It consumes you in ways that would never would have thought possible.  I sympathize for your friend since I have seen many of my friends fall victim to this terrible drug that is turning into an epidemic in this country.  I can't say enough how much I hate it and how much I hate what it is doing to this great country.  It's an absolute tragedy.

do you think she could be hiding her usage . my step dad went to prison for meth and when he got out we thought he was clean but after he had a heart attack and died we found his stash of drugs in a glove he hid it very well every one thought he was still recovering

I don't think so....I used to use it daily for about 3 years.  It messed me up while I was on it, and for a while after....but my life since had been ok...the only.  Wait what am I saying.....she'll always have addiction in her.....I just found myself being a pill addict....8 years after quitting meth!  So, addiction never goes away....just lies dorment.  But I think physically, she's probably just fine.  In my non professional opinion. ;)
