tramadol making pain worse

Over time on the same dose of tramadol will pain get worse? I have ben using 150 mg per day for almost 3 years. Any ideas? Thank  you!

Yes, I am tapering off. But my question is if I stay on the regular dose(not taper off) will pain get worse overtime? I am cutting 1/4 pill every 10-14 days. Does this sound reasonable? Thank you!!!
