Still haven't quit

I'm up to about 80 mgs a day of lortab. I got a prescription for 20 from the dentist and then I will be out. I don't have the money to buy any off the street. I have rent, bills, and sons' to pay for. I have to quit now and I'm honestly afraid.

Sorry I had some spelling errors

Yeah..200 mg is alot...I feel for you. I've only went on a binge like that once and coming off was hell. I'm glad you're doing good. I'm almost through 24 hours without anything and I'm not feeling very bad. I guess staying off of them will be the hard part.

I am glad that you are starting tomorrow. I know how you feel, I too am coming off of a "Binge" that had me up to 200-250 mg of hydrocodone a day.. I was taking 20-25 Norco (10-325) a day for a couple of weeks and then overnight just took 2 a day for a few days and man it was sheer helll.. Yesterday was my last day taking just the 2 and I have been taking 6-8 Ultram to help the NASTY W/D's but today I have only taken 2 Ultram and no Norco and the W/D's have been much more bearable.. Yes I still consider them to be a Nasty, sweaty, crapppy, restless, belly ache, no sleep pain in my rump, but just not as bad as the last 4 days were.. Just take one minute at a time if that is all you can do, and good luck.

I think you should taper down, then go CT. easier on the body that way, less painful.

I slipped up about 20 plus times, btw.  sometimes you gotta get kicked in the face about 20 times before you realize your getting crushed.

I am determined like never before in my entire life this time to stay away from opioids and opiates. 35 days clean now, and focused more than ever on top of it!

Do you guys think quiting cold turkey from 80 mg lortab will be that bad? I've slowly progressed to 80 mg and only been taking that much for the last week. Before that I was taking 30-40mg.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm determined to be done with these for good this time. I just don't know how I keep slipping up again and again. It's really killing me. I'm going to try jogging in the morning and at night, eat right, drink alot of water and take a vitamin every morning. These things aren't even getting me high anymore...just making me sick.

I know bro,  same with me. the problem is the drugs just dont work no more, unless the amounts are increased, which leads to even more wear and tear on the body. believe me, I had to shake methadone this last time which is even worse!!!!! plus when your on the pills I know that you had to have smoked a bunch more...........I SURE DID !!

If you were an athlete, then the good news is you got a motor in you, I do too, from working hard and keeping in shape all my years, that will help.

you are right where we all have been, you know what needs to be done. keep in mind you have done it before. do it again, get over the 4-5 days of no sleep, then work on getting 2-3 weeks clean and you will be glad you did. also the longer you do them and the more you do them, the worse it gets.

pull the trigger and start a plan. imperative you study your enemy........know your enemy then you will be able to beat the nasty @#$ pills once and for all!!!

I've quit cold turkey probably 20 times but each time gets harder and harder. This time it just feels like I'm out of strength. Is 80 mgs alot to quit cold turkey? I'm trying to find the strength but hoping withdraws aren't too bad. This time I have to quit for good. I have no interest in continuing down this path. I have two sons' to be a Daddy to. I quit smoking for 2 1/2 years. I think quitting smoking was much easier. I'm 29 and smoked for 9 years, a pack and a half a day. A couple years after quiting smoking, pills came in and took the place of my smoking addiction. Now I'm back to smoking and have a new monster habit of taking pills. The pills are killing me. Before the pills, I was an athlete, full of life and excited about each day. Pills have slowly smothered the life out of me. I don't even take that many of them. Everytime I get on a pill binge, I wake up and put myself through CT withdraw. It's just taken too much from me.

sounds as if continuing to use is not making u happy anymore...think about it...u r using/or were using/to feel good...does it make u feel good anymore?  answer that question...think about it hard..if using is not making u feel good anymore and causing u mental anguish..then why on earth do u wanna keep doing it?  now i know the answer cos i did the same thing..we continue to use because we r addicts,,,but this a mental thing///most of it anyway...kicking smokes is said to be topugher than quitting narcotics...some would beg to differ...but people stop smoking all the time....it is mentally hard for alot of peple to stop smoking..my dad for one..he had to cos he has emphysema now//not bad cos he quit but that never goes away//i think what did him in is my mom has it too..and she never smoked..second hand smoke induced...he stoped..it was he11..and he was also physically sick..jittery, headache, irritable..he was a bear he had smoked 2 packs a day since he was 18...he was 68 when he quit..thats alot yrs.....what i am getting at tho is sumpin that was once enjoyable can bring so much emotional negativity that it just aint fun anymore....keep us updated

Hang in there, it WILL happen.  When I got clean, I had the luxury of a passion to endulge instead of chemicals, it was surfing. I surfed before, during, and after my addictions. And don't give up, your time will come, it really will.
My point is, finding a passion of yours might help you longterm.  If you dont have one or more, think of what you liked in the past, things you might like to do, and try the new ones and the old ones when you're straight. Also, a regular strenuous physical activity helped me enormously, I just decided to start running, and ran 18 years.
This is just my 2 cents but I'm rooting for ya and hope what helped me might help you.
I'm in a jam myself right now but I succeeded for so long I know you and I can reclaim our lives.  All the best,
platrat

I've been taking pills on and off for a couple years. I want to quit for good. I've been taking them for a month straight. Before this month, I took a couple weeks off and went through withdraws. For the first 30 days, I was taking 30 mg a day. In the last week or so, I've moved up to 80 mg. I only have about 15 left from the dentist. I just don't know if I have the strength anymore to go through withdrawals.

what did you do?

did you relapse or something...............if you only took 20 pills from the dentist, you should be able to shake those off easy.

best to quit before it really gets a grip on you!
