Sub questions

Hey all....I have a loved one who is addicted hard-core to opiods and wants to stop.He will be seeking doctor's care and will more than likely be put on sub (not sure if suboxone or subutex).I'd love as much real-life stories,both good and bad please so I can educate him prior to this.I'm hoppeful for his recovery and will be he re to support him.Thanks all~Anne

Hi Tom,

Suboxone is a great treatment option for detox and for some who need it longer, maintenance.  I took sub for nearly 4 years and never even had an urge to use.  I detoxed from the sub over a year ago and have been completely optiate/drug free ever since.  Some words of advice.  Have your loved one get into a counseling program/support group - sub alone is just substituting one drug for another and will not allow one to work on themselves.  Introduce your friend to this website - it is a great resource for those seeking support and answers to questions - there are tons of resources available here to tap into.  Best of luck.

I have a friend who was very much addicited to loratabs and he sought professional help about 6 months ago. He was put on suboxone. So far so good.

He could not handle his cravings for loratabs with the use of suboxone. Suboxone has reduced his cravings to the point where they are manageable.

I am concerned about substituting one drug for another. In the long run he will have to be taken off suboxone it is working right now. I will send you a message with more details.
