Got my feelings ripped apart on my 30 days clean

Today, I am 30 days clean. However, I made an appt with a cardiologist because my bp is  114/76. This weekend I checked it and it was 90/61 and I freaked out. I went to this doctor and he logged into the system which is connected to my primary doctors system. He saw that I confessed to my doctor about my addiction and this no bed side manner donkey of man accused me of coming to him to get pain pills!!! He tore me apart! I told him to drug test me, and told him I'm 30 days clean today. He snarled.. Sure you are. I'm so devastated that this jerk would talk to me like this. I told him I was there because I didn't feel good, and even felt dizzy. He said, well what do you want me to do! I busted out in tears. I told him I wasn't there for him to persecute me. I told him I live with my own choices, and Whi is he to judge me? He's doing a full panel blood with up, but said my heart sounded great, but it was racing. I said, yea it's racing.. You've upset me!! I'm crushed.....

I was just going to say the same thing as clean in ks...i had to go to the ER on day4 of oxy withdrawal & my BP was 60/30...had to stay the whole night until my BP came up...had to have 3 bags of IV fluids..it was BC i was dehydrated, being so sick on day 4, I could hardly hold anything down, so make sure u are getting plenty of fluids!!!...& I say SCREW that mean ignorant DR...i would make a report of just how he treated u!!!....BIG CONGRATS on 30 days!!!!....MAJOR accomplishment!!!  xxoo :))

So sorry you had to experience this...I hurt for you.  I'm so glad you posted and shared this experience with us....I find no one understands me (even a dr familiar with addiction) like another addict.  30 days clean is a HUGE accomplishment!!!  If you haven't walked a mile in our shoes...how can you relate?

I wanted to share that at about the same timeframe, I, too,had very LOW BP...mine ran like 80/60 for a couple of weeks.  I have a good home BP unit and took it frequently because I was SO weak and listless.  I was dizzy upon arising from ANY position.  After it went on 2 weeks (I have no insurance) I got concerned enough I went to see my PA.  I was encouraged to increase my fluids, particularly water, because dehydration can affect our BP.  It seemed to just be part of my healing process.  

I don't know about you, but when I was 30 days clean, I was super sensitive, raw, cried easily, and felt like pure D sh*t.  My BP got better, but honestly, it took another good 2 or 3 weeks for it to normalize.
Hang on girl......you are doing GREAT!!!

30 days clean helps you handle the a s s h o l e s in the world a bit better. In another 30 you'll be able to rip him a new one - if you so desire.

alot of addicts are really annoying when they r seeking pills. its no excuse for ur doc to act that way, but the person before u and after u might have been scamming for pills. just start the visit out saying u dont want pain meds and wont take them no matter what and see how that goes.

I am so terribly sorry that happened to you! You definitely did not deserve it! Some people are so narrow minded and cruel. Congratulations on 30 days you are doing amazing! Keep up the great work ;)

Hey Butterfly! My BP is running really low since I quit, also. No one seems to be too concerned about it though. I'm sorry you had that experience with your doctor. What happened to the oath of "First, do no harm"? He, aparently, is an ignorant jerk! Your first order of business is, as soon as possible, get rid of him and find a new one.

Do not let this upset you too much. Be proud of your 30 days! That is a big milestone. Just laugh at him and feel sorry for all his other patients! Besides, screw him if he can't take a joke, right?

First of all Congratulations on 30 days!!! truly amazing!! Now I would call your primary dr (since he understands your situation!) and tell him what that dr did to you! I would report him to your insurance also! I do not care what a person is going threw a dr should NEVER treat a person like that! Its rude and unprofessional! You should never of had to deal with him treating you like that! Be proud you are doing amazing!!!!!!!!

You are all so kind:) I was just worried because my bp was lower than normal. My hubby said, he better be glad he wasn't there because he would have told him what to do and where he could go. I was hysterical. My primary doctor was so kind and treated me with upmost respect when I told him I was an addict. Thanks for the prayer<3

So many doctors are so horrible!! They think everyone wants pills...Most people are wanting pills I guess.. So, they think everyone is. I am so sorry this happened to you, but it does happen to a lot of people, that I know. This doctor is ignorant.. So many are... I am so sorry that happened..

I am sorry you experienced this sort of thing.  It just goes to show that some people are very narrow minded.  He has no clue about addiction and recovery.  Be glad we arent like that.  He showed his lack of intelligence.  Stand up and be proud of what you are accomplishing.  I hope you find some answers to your medical issues.

Hi Butterfly.. Congrats on your 30 days !! You should feel very Proud for this I do for you ! I had my right shoulder replaced and had a Dr. over the weekend. He came into my room and was very rude to me I asked him why because I have Hep C ? He said no and I said because I'm a addict. He said nothing he said are you ready to go home, I had just had the surgery the day before. I said no I'm in a lot of pain. he said other things also all in a very derogatory manner, Then he says you have to stay you have test scheduled for tomorrow.. Well he left and ordered the least pain med to treat my pain. My husband came to visit me I told him about it he bought floor supervisor in and we told her how it went down. well needless to say I received adequate pain med and had met some very kind peps for speaking my mind. I guess the moral of this story is that Dr.s are people also and there are some very ugly peps out there the are judgmental of others. They have no clue what we endure in order to claim recovery. Find a New Dr. if you can One that respects You. You are Strong with Courage and all that matters is that you are true to yourself. Congrats again on 30 days and I will send a prayer all comes back ok and it all be attributed to wd. Be kind to yourself, lesa

Im sooo sorry to hear about your experience! Maybe it happened for the best...kick that doc to the curb and find one that's more caring! What an a-hole! Again...Im really sorry for your experience!.
