Subutex Detox

My hubby has tried to detox off of Subutex which he takes for chronic pain. He has been on other opioids, morphines, etc. for chronic back pain before, so I have seen many detoxs. Anyways, when he stops taking subutex, he has about 7-12 pain free days - no pain at all-, then he has about 12 hours of being totally out of it, limbs flailing, agitated, mumbling, getting up, falling down, not knowing what he is doing, etc., then after that he goes into severe back pain to the point where it is intolerable and he must resume his subutex. I have experienced this same detox process with him 3 different times.

Can anyone tell us why he would have almost 2 weeks pain free if the subutex was totally out of his body?  He has never been able to make it over the hump during the rebound pain session to become subutex free.

Has anyone out there made it over that hump and become pain free afterwards?

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of detox off subutex and if you can give us any insight.

Another thing to consider is that everyone metabolizes drugs differently depending on age and other individual problems. Maybe your husband does not have 100% of the suboxone out of his body until much later. Just a thought.

i dont know why that happened, most people experience rebound pain during and after wd, it took me a year i guess for my pain to become manageable
what type of injury or illness does he have?

The subutex does not heal chronic pain......it merely masks the negative affects and pain. And subutex is a very powerful narcotic - much more so than morphine.  Sub also has an extensive half life.......it will not be totally out of the body at a rapid rate. 72 hours after a dose your body still has half that dose in the system.  Sounds like hubby needs a better pain management plan...............
