Subutex withdrawal day 6, major scare last night

I have been posting for a few days, sharing my withdrawal experience off of Subutex. Yesterday was not too bad, but I woke up last night and I felt like I had stopped breathing. And then as I lay there, It felt impossible to get a breath. I was really scared to fall back asleep, like ther was a ton of bricks on my chest. I got up and went to the ER.

After some tests came back negative for anythng heart related, they told me I was having a panic attack. What? I don't think I ever had one before. The gave me a shot of Atavan and low and behold I felt better within 1 minute. They gave me a script for 4 days worth and also put me on a clonodine patch.

I feel much better this morning, minus the fact I got almost no sleep last night. I had to call into work, and they are not happy as my IT team is implementing a major software update. I  need to be at work, but I know I need to take care of myself first.

I do have to say though, the horrible, horrible symptoms I was having Saturday seem to be gone. I still feel them, just much lighter. And the fatigue factor is the same. I am very tired...

Well thanks again for everyones help.
If there are any folks out there who have gone through sub. withdrawal after 5 months of use could share how long it took to get past, I would love to hear your story.

So a site for PAWS say it can take up to a year to get completely over. A year???
Thanks for listening.

Hi,I have anziety and panic syndrom. The first time was over 15yrs ago.The underlying condition in my case is worry, especially in regards to my health. The first one was in 1990, i was waiting for lower back sergury. The worse thing in my opinion is the fear they instill in a person, especially the fear of having another attack. The treatment that was prescribed for me was anti-depressants,Prozac in my case. What prozac did was make me even more anzious. Like in your case  the ativan, valium type of drugs where the only ones that gave me relief. Although they are addictive its in my case the only effective wat to treat a panic attack that is in progress.I am by fare no dr. but i do suffer extreme anziety and that is part of my addiction problem. If a person never experiences a panic attack there is no way to really understand the feeling,as in my case i felt like i was going crazy and would not die,but end up in a mental institution. i truly understand what and how you feel. God bless john

Panic attacks are very scary as they can mimic a heart attack, I,ve had my share of these horrible attacks at least on 5 different occasions in my life, & they are terrible, the last one I had was about a year ago, & typically I can mentally get myself out of them, no drugs no going to the emergency room, I use the most natural method available & thats breathing excersises or sometimes even a small paper bag works wonders. Good Luck Penelope
