Tapering opiates

Long time opiate user for chronic pain
Stopped one year ago or so but then went back on after neck surgery
Not up to cold turkey as it increases chronic pain significantly
But want a fast taper !
Am on oxycontin 40mg every 12 hours and oxycodone 10 mg every 4-6hours
Oxycontin causing severe constipation so would like to stop it first
Any advice for taper with that in mind ?
Thanks for advice and support . I am motivated to make a change

I was not successful with getting completely off opiates ended up having another herniated disc in my neck ( I had surgery in neck in 2013)
Yes I do work with my dr on tapers
I am no longer taking the oxycontin
I am taking 5  10 mg oxycodones daily
Dr said I could taper by 20% each week
I am getting ready to go back to work so I want to taper faster
I had 40 mg yesterday and plan to dear ease to 30 mg for a few and down by 10 mg every few days after that

Hi Nowsthetime. Welcome to the forum. It is against our Guidelines to give out taper info as we do not know your medical history. Is there a reason you do not want to go thru your Dr. for a taper schedule ? You sure came to the right place to get off the drugs. Keep reading you will glean a lot of info on tapering and what you need to do to make the whole process bearable.. Ask any questions you have and gather support This is a we thing when getting off drugs. Let us know how you decide to taper and we will support. I wish you well, lesa
