My doc just perscribed me xanax for the anxiety and agitation, I came clean with him and he perscribed me 0.25 xanax he said it was a small enough dose to not cause addiction and to take exactly as directed is this a good idea or shoukd I just tough it out??

I'm going to agree with the rest of the people on here and say steer clear! They are highly addictive. The severe anxiety won't last too long. Also you could try clonadine or a beta blocker. They are blood pressure meds that black adrenalin and aren't addictive. Don't tempt yourself, the addict always wine.

HI  Xanex is a benzo and ALL BENZO'S are addictive and should be avoided I for one know this addiction well I came off them about 17mo ago and the withdrawal was a nasty one if you can dont mess with them they should never be taken by a addict even if it is not your drug of choice cross addiction is very real with this drug.

Thanks everyone I called him back and he said to use if I feel to anxious so I'm going to opt to not take them, I didn't even go pick them up from pharmacy, tomorrow will be day 3 so hopefully after tomorrow the worst will be over right??? As far as the physical wd symptons?

My DOC was opiates any opiate it didn't matter, then when i became clean from them of course my anxiety kicked in and i was prescribed Xanax and before i knew it i was addicted to them, at first i didn't abuse them but felt very anxious if i didn't take them , then i discovered mixing it with booze, so in my humble opinion, i would stay far away from BENZO"S!

Ya, I'm rooting for you too hon but I would say stay away from the benzos........evil suffocating seductress for me and many many others......whole new nightmare if she gets you.  Bless, hugs....you don't need it.

My personal opinion....if you're an addict....stay away from benzos!  Thinking you can "take as directed" doesn't usually work for us addicts.
