I'm not actually asking the name of it but the state so that we can check state regs. I'd never ask for the actual name! How're you doing?

Here's a 'Equianalgesic' conversion table link (best one I could find, anyway):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equianalgesic

According to this 10 mgs of Hydrocodone = 1.35 mgs. of Methadone. Bear in mind that these are considered rough estimates & that age, cross-tolerance & pre-existing conditions must be factored in. Also, there's quite a range of how people metabolize opiates. So, what might be true for one person is not necessarily true for another.

Ok, I just read on someone else's post on here that 10mg of m-done is = to 60 of hydro condone, IS THIS EVEN CLOSE TO TRUE?!?!? I take 150 m-done a day and more on many days?  Is this true??

Is there any other clinic you can get to? Is this a pay as you go place? What state is your clinic in? I'm not really sure of the legality of this. I feel it's definitely unethical for him to take you up like that unless you're pregnant or you're consistently dirty or you skip days. First, I'd go to the director of the clinic with my issue. If that doesn't work, get an advocate, research the state & Fed. Regs & then go to DPH (dept. of Public Health) & fight it! The easiest course of action, obviously, would be to transfer. If your urines are clean & you're in full compliance with your place, I Really believe it's illegal for them to stop you from tapering down @ whatever they deem a 'medically safe' rate. Please, can you tell me where your clinic is & if there are any others around. Also, are you on take homes..If so how many? Thanks! We're here.

I would say you traded a witch for the devil!! Methadone is a fcuker of a drug to get off of But it can be done I'm 5 weeks free from it 2morrow & there are a few guys/girls on here who have came off it That's the good part, iv been reading a few posts on here where folks are asking if methadone is good to come off this & that drug!! Its such a shame that in the US the dr,s seem to hand it out like candy unlike the UK you have to be a heroin addict, my opinion on it is that if needed then it should be a 3 month detox script & not a maintenance prescription It saved my life & destroyed it at the same time Plus I used everything & anything on top of my script, u should start tapering down real slow then detox. Good luck & god bless you my friend

Thats OK..It happens all the time.Darn Phones. I am always on a computer. I sure do agree but I would say it was trading the witch for the devil. I sure hope you can get way down from a taper and come clean. I will be honest it is a short ride compared to the years we use but it is still a bit tough, and I find the stages I went and still am going threw a BIG EXPERIENCE. Sometimes I get so darn mad because I really think I did it this time around with that drug. I am getting better and because of all of this I do not want to put these friggen poison in my body again. BUT I came off of the illegal Adderral and a Benzo at night. So I pulled my nervous system up and down and all around so each med hit different areas of the brain. If YOU do a nice taper you should not have it that bad. It does take a bit of time but we have ALL done it on here. Just keep us updated..OK. I wish you the best and just put you foot forward and push hard to get it done. The rewards are so worth it in the Long Run.

Ok, yes I know it seems crazy!  I said I've traded the devil for a witch.  I'm now addicted to methadone just like I was pain pills.   I hate it.  I do without or buy a couple 40's off the street when I take all my take homes.  I've finally came clean to my mom about my take homes and she is keeping my lock box at her house and I have to go get my daily dose of 150 from her.  This started Thursday.  On Thursday I got Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday take homes.  Monday being a holiday.  I am just fine without going over. 150.  I do NOT use anything other than m-done.   I'm trying guys... Just feel I'm still a pill junkie, just a different D.O.C.  Anyways that's a little better I guess, "mom"  sorry about having two threads going here, I'm new and wasn't sure what I was doing.

Hi You have 2 post going but I am going to stay with this one from last night. The site cut us off do to there monthly check up. SO if you come back I do want to talk with some more. I did not catch that you were getting them from the streets too..This would be your first step is to STOP buying them and deal only with the Clinic right now.

I clearly understand your plight but I can see where the Doc is coming from. If you are unable to manage the dose given you that is the reason they term you unstable. You claim to not want to be on that high of a dose yet you take more than is prescribed and I might add that you are on a very high dose. These clinics are well seasoned and they "know what time it is"....how can you expect to taper when you are unstable?? I know methadone very well and unfortunately most addicts do not get on it to get clean, they get on to not be sick or to get high. They WILL kick you off if they detect you are not serious. Perhaps you should be honest with them about your situation, the fact you are taking too much. Begin with your counselor and work out a x-ment plan that will work for you. You've got some searching to do if you want this to get any better. Keep us posted so we can be of support...Good luck.

I don't have personal experience with Methadone but I do know what it is like to live a life controlled by a substance.  Mine was mainly Tramadol, but over the 15 years I used/abused pretty much every opiate out there at one time or another.  When I quit about 9 months ago I was taking extremely high doses of several different painkillers.  My life literally revolved around pills from the moment I woke up until the moment I went to bed at night.  I was tired too; tired and broke and hating myself and my life.  I also knew that if I didn't stop soon I would die at the rate I was going.  Quitting was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life; but it was also the best thing I have ever done.  You can do this too - for yourself first, and then for your family, your grand babies.  A drug free life is totally possible for you - YOU have the power to make this happen.  And it is not a race.  From what I understand, Methadone should be tapered; slow and steady.  You want to do this right, and do it only once.  Keep posting here for support; there are so many caring and awesome people here.  You can do this :)

I have never been to a clinic, but it would seem to me that YOU could tell them that you do not like this drug and YOU want to go down not up..I am telling you it sounds like the money thing to me.

I use half my take home dose 50% of the time and buy methadone on streets to make up.  Just like the oxy and roxy use

Thanks so much,  I do feel better talking to you guys, a girl at my clinic told me about ya.  She finally came all the way off.  Unfortunately, I don't have insurance and not many dr around here write sub or methadone.  I am taking my take homes along with the 150 too.  I've truly traded one addiction for another and I'm tired...just tired.  I want a drug free life!  Looking at this grand baby in my bed sou d asleep kills me.  Like I said, I'm an in the closet user all the way.  And I'm a nurse as well.  Not working right now but two days a week.  Just enough to pay for my clinic and cigs.  And what little food I eat.  Went from 175-115 since February, no joke

Is there any way you can find a different doctor?  Withdrawal is scary, but honestly, the thought of it is actually worse than going through it.  You can do it.  I quit from a 15 year habit at massive doses of painkillers.  It was no cakewalk, but it WAS doable, and I got through it just fine.  Looking back now I realize that my fear is what kept me slave to my addiction for so long.  My "normal" was pills too and I never thought I could do it, but I did - and you can too.  It is great that you found this site; there are so many people here than can relate and have been exactly where you are right now.  You are not alone anymore, and you can do this!

OMG..That is insane..Sound to me he wants the $$$$. You can go to a DR and tell them that you do not like the clinic because of this and tell the New Dr what it was prescribed for and that YOU want to get off of it. I was prescribed many 10mg pills for years and years. I got down to 30mg and went c/t. BUT was snorting it with illegal Adderral and took a Benzo at night. It was a long ash ride but if you can taper and get way down we sure can help you during you w/d state. OK? It will not be all that Bad coming off of one drug.

He says I'm not at a stable dose.  Kept taking me up and up.  He's terrible, the nurses even say don't bother the dr unless you have to. He's rude and crude.

OH, Yes..We know. It is a bit easier to detox from the others then the Methadone. Have you talked to the Dr about tapering down ASAP?
