How long will withdrawal last?

Hello all, I am 24 yr old male. I have been taking 6-30mg roxys for about 3 months recreationally. The last few weeks I tapered down to about 3 or 4 a day. I tried quitting once and only went 2 days before using again, the pain was awful, chills, couldn't sleep, vomiting every 20mins. It was really hell. I don't want to go to rehab, I believe I can do this on my own. If anyone knows how long these withdrawal symptoms last, and any other help would be much appreciated.

Your actually a lucky man.. 3 months is the perfect time to quit.. (since your at 3 months) ..

The fear of Detox is worse than Detox.. but Detox is not a bunch of fun either..  You can do it.. pretty much everyone here has done it .. Your welcome to post here the whole time.

Ideally, you would tell your family doctor what your plan is .. The doctor can really help. You need to get hydrated first.. drink loads of water for a few days before you stop..
Ask the doctor about Clonodine as well.

Then, clear your calendar and make yourself comfortable. I waited 10 years to stop.. If I could go back in time, I would have taken 3 months. The mental part will be a lot easier for you if you stop now..

Hey.  Read your post and am in the same boat.  I am on day 3 and it is pretty hellish.  I have been taking 5-10 norcos for 6 months.  At first, it was for actual pain, but in end became an addiction.  This is not the first time I have pulled myself off something by myself, but it is by far , the worst.  You definitely should ween yourself down.  I got myself down to 2-3 a day before I went cold turkey.  The first three days are awful, but you have to get through it and you would be much better off quitting now, than later.  The longer you take them, the worse the withdrawal.  As I said, I'm on day three.  I'm drinking at least a gallon to two gallons of water a day to detox faster, motrin to bring down the fever, and tylenol for pain.  Vitamins help also and cranberry juice or any detox tea. You can definitely do it by yourself.  Just don't relapse after you put yourself through hell (the first 3-4 days)..  And keep praying. Good luck man

Thanks for the help and the support guys. I just really wonder if I can go thru this detox on my own. I've talked to several people that think I need medical help, but I don't wanna get hooked on suboxone, or go to rehab, I really hope and pray I can do this on my own but have my doubts.

Hi.  It might take a few days to a week.  Day 2 or 3 suck but you just have to do it.  I was taking 30 ES vikes a day for years.  So if I can do it anyone can.  It has been 17 days for me and all I can say is I feel great.  I feel like I have come out of a fog.  You can do it.  Good luck my friend.

Welcome to the forum. Generally the worst of the w/d's will last 4-6 days, but not everyone is the same depending on how much, how long and how many we were using. The good news is you have only been taking them for 3 months and can put an end to this for good. Addiction is progressive, so stopping now is saving you a lot of grief down the road.

If you look in the top right of this page, you will see health pages. In there is the thomas recipe and that can help ease w/d's a lil. Best of luck and keep posting, you can do this man.
