Odor caused from alcoholism (liver disorder)

my husband has been a heavy drinker for years and during that time has developed an odor which has gotten progressively worse.  After much investigation, I found that the odor comes from his liver not functioning properly and not cleansing the toxins from his body; instead they come thru his pores.  It is a disgusting odor and has inundated our home (furniture, clothing, etc.). Does anyone have a solution to get rid of the odor.  He is seeing a doctor and has not had
a drink in two months.

Is this a "self diagnosis" or was your husband diagnosed with liver disease by a doctor? If so, what was his diagnosis?

This question may be better suited for the Liver disorders community as this forum addresses addiction.
