Beside melatonin, there are a few others like Sam-E, 5htp, tryptophan that need to be looked at before using if you're on an SSRI...I mentioned it on another post for informational puposes but I'm pretty sure it's in all the inserts...
To me, you should be at least out of bed at 41 days. Why the Ashton manual? Benzos? (sorry but I don't remember all you've been taking :( )
Talk about all of this tomorrow. Banish those oxy thoughts!!
Good luck !!
Still confused after googling seratonin syndrome? Should I stop taking melatonin all together? I'm sorry I started the welbutrin..I don't think it's working for me and here I am trying to help my brain receptors get back to some kind of normalcy. I am barely getting out of bed...and here it is 41 days oxy free...NOT good. I'm wondering what's the point. I see Dr. tomorrow..she finally called me back..saying her phone was having problems.(.Im sure she has a cell phone) I want to discuss the Ashton Manual..and I'm thinkin' might as well get a script for the oxy too...stinkin thinkin... What I WILL do is get her on board with the Ashton Manual...get through that..then switch Dr.'s. ..and keep reminding myself that by the Grace of God I was able toput the oxy down..and if I pick 'em up again there really is no chance of living any kind of normal life...things still are bleak..but at least there is a chance my life will get better..maybe. I just have to hold on to that..
If you knew the chemistry here, you'd see it but just try not to wory about it. I mention it because I'd hate to see someone have a problem from taking too much Melatonin (serotonin converts to melatonin). The SSRI's simple can't compete with all of that seratonin. Try looking up seratonin syndrome.
Antidepressant medications -- In an animal study, melatonin supplements reduced the antidepressant effects of desipramine and fluoxetine. More research is needed to determine whether these effects would occur in people. In addition, fluoxetine (a member of a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs) has led to measurable depletion of melatonin in people.
not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
