Hello everyone, your responses have been a big help, now for an update as to Gary.
He refused any kind of narcotic medicine against the hospital doctors wishes, after he woke up at midnight. So they discharged him! Amazing how little compassion there is in the hospitals these days.
Anyways they gave him three perscriptions for medicine when he left, and I brought him home. On the way home, I askm him if he'd like me to find an overnight pharmacy and get them filled, and he ask if I had his medication he had sent home with me, I said yes. Gave them to him, assuming he'd take one. I he made me stop, and took the pill bottle, and the perscriptions and dropped them down a street drain!
Finally I got him back in the car and brought him on back to his place because he wouldnt let me take him to my home and care for him.
By the way, his apartment is A WRECK!
Well, I put him to bed, with heating pads, and rubbed his arms and legs until he went to sleep, he claims he's almost there, and just another 12 hours to go, or something like that, he's pretty much out of it. During his wakeful moments I have been feeding him his bannannaas and V-8 Juice, and made him a bowl of this nasty cereal he has. He wont eat anything else, I tried. I've been applying cold compresses to his neck and forhead, and wiping the sweat from his neck and chest. He tosses and turns but he's sleeping.
His nose is running, and he doesn't even look like the same man. Please, will this ever end? I want anything he wants, if he wants off the medicine, I will help in any way I can. Is there anything else I can do for him?
And where is this ever12hour woman? I admit I was alittle jeleous at first reading all this, until I read she was 60 yrs old. She stuck with him thru all this, and I am grateful, but now that I see what has happened to him, I am also worried about her. You all have been actual angels, and if you-any of you ever come to TN, I'll make you a heck of a deal on a new Lexus, or Porche!
Every12Hours-where are you? Are you ok, dear? Please get back to me and tell me if you are ok, I know Gary would like to know that when he wakes up.
He finally woke again about an hour ago, claims he felt much better, he took 2 tylenols and got this computer back up and running for me, but went in the bathroom, threw up and took a hot soak in the tub, afterwards he ask that I write something here for you all, being his hands are shaking so bad and he says his fingertips are numb.
Again, thank you all for being there for him. I love this man so much, and don't know what I'd do without him. He stopped a man from raping me outside my dealership one night several years ago, and I have loved him ever since. The man had a knife and Gary was cut badly, but he beat the guy up very badly-for which I am grateful. He is my knight in shining armor!
Love and kisses everyone,
Phyllis
Phyllis, im so sorry to hear about gary. it seemed as though he was eating and drinking fluids, but u never know what the body is truely going threw. my detox was all the same stuff everyone talks about, chills, sweats, no sleep, and a basic going crazy for a couple of days. i never had a sezure or anything. i was doing 180 to 210 mg of oxy a day for over a year. gary is in my prayers along with you.
OMG.....I hope he is ok. Please let us know when you find out!
Thank you for giving her that info. I hope he is okay.
Phyllis,
I am so sorry to hear about Gary. He seemed like he was making such good progress. You are doing the right thing by asking for help.
To answer the above I believe that he did use the Thomas recipie in an effort to combat his WD symptoms that he was facing. I know he expressed a strong interest in doing so in some private posts that we exchanged. He mentioned going to get some ingredients the other day but did not mention to what ingredients or for what. Bear in mind that I am assuming that it was for the Thomas receipe as he had a high interest level in it. I asked him for what ina follow up post but he did not answer this question.
Gary also talked about reducing the frequency of taking the medicine that he was prescribed. I don't know any more than that in this area.
Normally I would never do this due to privacy concerns but this situation warrants this action. Below is an quote from Gary in one of his recent private post to me about his sitaution.
"As for the response FROM DOCTORS, I was right, they are not interested in helping me get off by giving me any kind of other medicine, and didn't suggest anything I could do. I wont go to the next state to get on Methadone, and that was the only offer I have gotten from doctors up to this point. My pain management doctor wants to keep charging my medical insurance for the needles-expensive, so hasn't given me any suggestions other than "Keep your appointment next week, and we'll keep giving you percocets and shots for pain-in the back".
Perhaps that gives you an insight into his thinking about his current situatuon.
Phyllis please comment back with any additional questions that you have. I am praying for both you and Gary. He is indeed very lucky to have someone like you in his life.
Tom
Please let us know how he is Phyllis......sara
1) These products will help you with RLS ( night are a hell with RLS) Hylands restful legs is the brand name of the product, ask for it because it is a very small bottle and sometimes it got overlooked. Same with Hylands cramps legs.
about number 5) Natural Calm , i think is a magnesium suplemment .... magnesium, calcium and potasium are minerals that will help you with muscle cramps and aches and with RLS ( bananas and apple juice are rich on potasium and this is the reason they are recommended )
2) a good vitamin complex... and i would add a B's complex and vitamin C.
4) you will experience problems with sleep and anxiety, this is quite normal and i would tell you that you will still have problems with sleep and anxiety even if you are taking some stuff to help you . There is no magical pill to erase those wds symptoms but at least you can alleviate them a litlle bit.... If you are not taking anything else apart from the percocets, we advice melatonin to help with sleep , it is non habit forming ( OTC ) along with valerian root ( this is a herb , so it is not a brand name, look for valerian root )... valerian is a help with anxiety too.
I have just remembered that there are some people that are taking supersnooze to help with sleep ... and it has many of the ingredients that we are advising all in one so you could try this product... supersnooze to start with and see how you are feeling... maybe with the days , you will see if you need anything of the above.
5) Epsom salts are magnesium tablets... you will feel much better after taking one of those hot baths with the salts, it is a temporary relieve but it is one good one :)
so.... i would start with the Supersnooze ( i think the brand is "puritan's pride " ), the vitamin complex and the B's complex and vitamin C, , maybe the valerian root cause i feel you are already quite nervous and the epsom salts along with immodium ( diarrhea ) and advil ........ keep eating as much bananas as you can, the apple juice, some gatorades....
