Can you have withdrawal symptoms from taking Vicodin for only 3 days?

Hello,

I was taking Norco pills for 3 days straight, two a day last week.  Two days after stopping I was having the worst insomnia I have ever had.  I slept literally only an hour on Saturday night.  I was crying it got so bad because all I wanted to do was sleep.  Is it possible to experience withdrawals from such a short intake of the pills?  Today is my 6th day of withdrawing, I probably slept only 4 hours last night so I am barely functioning mentally today.

Thank you for the responses, I think I figured out my problem.  It's not from withdrawals, but PMS (women here will understand)

My period came earlier than expected so I didn't think I would already have PMS symptoms, except this time my symptoms seemed to be worse than it usually is.  I have never had the inability to sleep that bad.  I also thought I was gaining weight, but I am glad I now know it's just bloating.  Glad I know what the problem is.  I went to sleep yesterday around 7:30pm and slept till 8:00 this morning.  It was awesome, I am still tired though.  Will take awhile to catch up on missed sleep.

Everyone is different, but that's very unlikely that you'd be withdrawing from such a short period of time. Could be you'te nervous or maybe depressed if you're crying? but I don't think it's the narcotics.

Hi there,

It's unlikely, but as Marycarmel said, it is possible.  If you've never taken any type of opiate before, you may be hyper sensitive to them.  Were you having any sleep issues before taking the Norco?

If not, your sleep should come back soon.

You are probably being affected by you body coming off the meds. Even small amounts can have an impact. You should be fine soon: if not, maybe call your doc.

It would be unlikely, though everyone is different and I've found narcotics really interfered with my sleep.  Try taking some Melatonin or Alteril, both all-natural and non-habit forming.
