Depends on how long you've been on the vikes, how many per day, your body weight, physical condition, etc.
Good frikkin' answer, eh?
In my case it was three days of real physical "discomfort" (I use that word because "pain" connotates the feeling of sticking a knife into your arm, whereas "discomfort" covers the whole gamut from mild adgitation to climbing the walls). After that it was two weeks of feeling achey and blah, with sleep being sporadic. Some nights I was dead out. On others I watched the clock hit 3:30 AM.
Things that helped: lots of exercise during the day. I not only hit the gym, I did a lot of walking. When things started getting intense at the Jay O'Bee, I would put on my coat and go for a long brisk walk. I used OTC benedryl or Tyelnol PM to aid in the drowsies, and (no kidding) a glass of moo juice before bed. If I was still restless, I'd prop up a couple of pillows and lie there in the dark thinking happy thoughts. Yeah, it sounds hokey as hell, but for me it calmed me down. It might not have helped me sleep, but it beat tossing and turning. For me it was going over in my mind my plans for building a boat and taking my grandson fishing.
Finally, after 15 days, I felt fantastic. So much so I was giddy when I woke up and my wife thought I was on something.
It's been three months. Still clean and life is good.
It's amazing how great food tastes when you are no longer fixationg on your next dose of pills.
Try trazadone. Dr. perscribed it for me, it works. non narcotic, no side affects. Before I started trazadone I was awake for about 20 days, with little to no sleep.while detoxing from tabs and alcohol.
Seems we're both reppin' philly. ; )
But I'm confused: do you mean how long does it take to fall asleep (i.e. minutes, hours) while detoxing, or how long will it take for you to be able to sleep comfortably without taking vicodin?
I'm assuming it's the latter, so I'll go with that. For me, it took a few days (I was detoxing off OC 80's, but I didn't use everyday. I would go on a binge for a week, run out of money, go through mild w/d, get money again, repeat). Melatonin may help- it's available OTC and it is found naturally in your body anyway.
How much vicodin were you using daily and for how long?
