looking for any advice and some help

Recently gave birth two months ago by csection, prescribed percocet and took it normally with no problem. I believe I'm suffering from post partum as well and I'm not trying to make any excuses for myself but I think that I may have started this for a way to cope with all the dramatic events in my life lately. Well I bumped up to oxycontin 40mg and have been taking them for two months maybe two a day. I want to stop more than anything! My problem is the detoxing. I'm sure it is for everyone. I just took my last oxy because of how extremely horrible I feel. I dont have any insurance right now so seeing a doctor for help doesn't look like its going to happen :( I have percocet that I'm trying to take to kind of taper off the oxy. I just really need some guidance. I have no one who would understand without disowning me. Does anyone know anything I can do to make the detox easier on myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to you to for your help and kind words. It's hard being in this alone. But just having my little one by my side is all the reason I need.

Thank you for the encouraging words. It does help just hearing it. I checked out the Thomas recipe and I'm going to try it with what I have at home. Vitamins, anxiety meds, and sleep meds. I'm relieved to know that the worst will hopefully only last a few days. I have that to look forward too. Thanks again!

Hi There, Congrat on your new baby. The good news is you have not been on them for that long. This is the perfect time to stop. I am not sure about weaning with perch's especially if you don't have that many. Truth be told you will feel a bit uncomfortable no matter how you do it. Are you still on prenatal vitamins? Start with a protein drink and a good vitamin to help with energy. Are you still needing pain relief? Advil should help there. Hot showers will help you relax since you probably aren't cleared for baths yet(?) Fresh air and stolls with the baby will get your endorphins going. Keep posting, more will come along with more tips. Good luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum! Well, there are two ways to go about it at home. One is to taper. We can't give specific tapering advice because each of us is unique and tapering affects each person differently. There are members who have successfully tapered. One disadvantage of it is that each time you drop, you go through a bit of withdrawal. Some people feel that it prolongs the withdrawal, plus it takes a lot of discipline and it helps if you have someone who can dole out the pills to you.

The second method is cold turkey. This makes the withdrawal more intense. The worst of the physical symptoms should ease after about 5 to 7 days. Of course, again, since we are all different, this can vary. There are a few people who have very few symptoms.

Regardless of which route you take, your body will be going through a lot and you'll need to prepare it by taking vitamins and supplements. Check out the Thomas recipe in the Health Pages of this site.

Best of luck and keep posting. We'll be here to support and help you through.
