100 hours down.... Feeling so so.
Congratulations on your decision to quit. I've found that the best energy drink that really does help is the Starbucks Energy drinks. They have a Ton of vitamins in them and for me, the dairy helps coat my stomach. Good Luck and stay on this page. It's really been helping me...
Do any of those 5 hour energy drinks work?
You must have about 86 hrs in by now, huh? You said you took 6 (5 mg) hydros/day for about 5 years, right? I don't know how old you are, but 30 mg a day, dosing at 5 mg is a fairly low dose of hydros.
Don't psyche yourself out by reading "how others are doing". Each of us will detox differently. One thing is for sure...if you convince yourself to just "take one more" for energy for a desired energy boost.....you'll be back in the grips of addiction. If you only have stomach issues and energy issues.....maybe you can count your blessings.
Have you not eliminated all your pills? You still have access? Open script? Does your doctor know? Anyone close to you know about your addiction?
Keeping your mind busy.....music, movies, funny stuff, whatever....and going for short walks....drinking LOTS of fluids....some with electrolytes too, will speed up the process. The first 100 hrs are the toughest usually....and if you can stop using at 30 mg/day....you are WAY better off than many of us. I used to be at 30 mg a day, too. But it's PROGRESSIVE...our tolerance builds....and off we go. Do in NOW while you can.....and go tackle that clean life a free man.....rooting for you!
Yeah, well, get used to the time in the bathroom.. I won't do the TMI thing, but it is what it is and you'll get through it. It's your body's way of getting rid of all those toxins, so let it be. Your body needs to do this.
If you are nauseated, try either some ginger ale, or get some ginger root. You can either steep some shavings in hot water and make a tea, or just eat a few shavings. Ginger is a natural cure for nausea and it works wonders. If you are having diarrhea get some Imodium. You don't want to get dehydrated so be sure to drink a lot of water, juice, and/or Gatorade. I hope you can get some relief soon. It's important to eat when you can. Helps you heal and gives you energy. Do you have someone that can run to the store for you and grab some of that?
Thank you. I can't eat anything because my stomach is queasy and I just end up in the bathroom.....
You are doing fantastic! Hang in there. If you start to fret or feel panicky, just take some deep breaths, put on some good music, and try to relax. It helps to get on here and chat too. Hot baths can be a lifesaver too. You are probably about through the worst of this, if you aren't already. Keep fighting!!
Great job! Try not to anticipate anything. Take things as they come, or not come as the case may be! You are doing awesome!
84 hours down......still kind of ok.
I'm not sure but know I have to keep busy so I don't let my mind convince me I can just take one more. That's what worries me, they gave me energy and I'm craving a boost of energy but truthfully have more than I thought on day 3.
It's impossible for me to say if it's going to get worse. Try not to psych yourself out too much. If you stress and worry about how bad it might be, you will increase your anxiety and you will feel worse. You are doing great. Just try to relax and go with the flow. I highly doubt if you are on day 3 that it will suddenly get any worse than it is. You are probably very close to being through the worst of the physical withdrawals. Try to focus on the positive and work on your recovery plan. What are you planning on doing to ensure you stay clean past the detox?
This forum is a great place for support, but I can't help but wonder if you're setting yourself up for more anxiety, etc. by reading everyone's posts.
Everyone's detox is different so try not to compare how you're feeling to what others are going through. Just hang in there, take especially good care of yourself right now, and leave the rest. You can do this, and you'll get through it. :)
Thanks. Been on them for a while. It's day 3 and I'm a little anxious because I'm waiting to feel like crap and keep waiting for things to get worse so that's stressing me out cause I don't feel too bad. Will it get worse?
Hi there! Great job on your clean time. As far as when you will feel better, everyone is different. It depends on a lot of factors such as age, general health, amount of use, and length of use. Usually people hit a turning point at the 3-7 days mark as far as physical symptoms go. The mental and emotional stuff can continue for much longer. That is the hard part and why it is recommended that you get some sort of after care whether it be NA/AA meetings, counseling, etc. It's easy getting clean, but much harder to stay that way. Stick around and keep posting. We are here for you. Take care and try to keep your head up.
Thanks. Been about 6 a day for 5 years. It's now been 72 hours and I'm doing ok...how long to I have to go to know I'm out of the woods? Took hydro 5.
As Sonrissa said - before we can offer some general info, we need more details. The amount you were taking daily, the strength of the pill (5s, 10s) and for how long - months, years - all of that determines how the detox will be.

Hi DJ, and welcome to the forum. How much Hydro have you been taking, and for how long? That info plays into how long or acute withdrawals can be. Typically, the physical symptoms last about a week, and peak around days 3-5. So, things may get a little rougher for you. Without more details, it's hard to say. Have you read the Thomas Recipe for information on things you can do to lessen the physical symptoms? Keep posting here. You will get lots of great advice and support! Take care!
Hey Friend,
Congrats on the strength to do this! Today and tomorrow should be your worst days, so you are doing phenomenal. You will get some mental symptoms such as anxiety and depression etc. Ride it out, it goes away. Sometimes you wil feel ike it won't go away, but it will.
take vitamins, exercise when you feel like you are strong enough. I started just walking a half block, then got to a mile. It takes time mentally and physically. Treat yourself like royalty, you deserve it.
It will end, I promise.
hugs,
Lily
