Hi there- Yes, it's been done. But, using methadone for a few days is not going to make it quick or painless and if you can't taper down from the Oxy any more, how are you going to manage the methadone taper? I don't think it's a good idea to introduce another drug, but that's just me...
You're sure you can't taper down a little more? Have you ever just stopped cold? It IS rough for a few days physically, no question, but it's totally doable and there are many, many OTC's that can help...

I have to agree that methadone is not a good solution. I tried to use it to w/d and while it stays in you longer, the w/d symptoms are worse. I was taking half twice daily to keep me stable then went to only half for a short time, and I was sicker coming off those than norco. Same thing with tramadol. Granted my norco was at max 100mg day. Look at norco1947's post for what to expect...it can be done by tapering if possible.
I too was on a silly amount of oxy..... Almost 400 mg a day at my worst...
I jumped at 250mg's over 8 months ago. I'm going to send you a Msg. Please check it out.

I scored some methadone to get clean years ago. I have been ended up on methadone for so long, it was the worst thing I have ever lived through. I won't say that methadone never helps people, but if you can't control Oxys, good chance methadone will be not different. I spun out of control with street methadone. It is the opiate that came the closest to killing me. Under a doctors care is one thing, but doing it on your own is a dangerous game, I've been there. Methadone is cheap, powerful, and you feel like your mind is more clear, at first. Be careful. I wish I had just gone CT rather than ever used methadone.
Weaver is sooooi right, just bbite down and kick it. I know that's easier said than done and I know that methadone does help some people. The truth about it is though that the wds you are feeling now are so much easier than kicking methadone. If methadone is what you think you need to do. Be prepared for it to consume years of your life. If you can check out a medical detox, if there is no insurance you can find state funded facilities. Good luck to ya. Your not the only one going through it.
