Insurance companies are basically law firms. They try to win and not pay most of the time. If he was taking methadone illegally, then I am sure they will play that card, if prescribed or from a clinic, then he is legal to drive, unless his provider of methadone states otherwise. If he is taking it illegally, then he should get into some recovery program. With the law, figure, anything you say or do can be used against you in the court of law. That Sums it up nicely.
Thanks for your reply. He is in a clinic was actually on his way there when the accident happened. I'm just really worried they will try to not cover the reck due to him being on methadone. I really don't know much yet my husband went to get him from the hospital, so all I know is he said it was the other persons fault. He was unconscious when the police got there and they took him to the hospital.
I was on methadone (clinic administered) in another state 50 mgs I also was involved in an accident. A drug test showed methadone , and because I was under a Drs care No adverse liability was placed on me.Oh I forgot to mention the accident was my fault.
Also his medical records are private. They can't access them without a release or subpoena. And there is no reason for that. So unless there is a police report that states it then they won't even know.
Thanks for your reply I will make sure he lets the clinic know. He actually was on his way back from the clinic, thank god. He's doing ok, thanks for asking. It could have been much much worse, he hit a concrete barrier on the highway head on and it spun him around a few times. But he didn't have even a scratch on him, thank god he was wearing his seat belt. The suv is another story though it looks so bad they said it looked like he flipped it.
Hi well im happy to here he was ok here in Arizona they made it legal to drive on it a few years back when I was on it it was not so check your state laws you should be able to google it my thinking on this is he may have ''nodded'' off witch is common and dangerous has he though about getting off of it ??? if so we can help show him the website and show him how to work it just knowing your not alone in this helps I wish you a merry Christmas you have a lot to be thankful for...Gnarly
Thanks for your reply and yes he definitely wants to get off of it, he's weening off now on about 30mgs down from 60. About the nodding off thats what I had assumed at first but it was only about 10 to 15 mins after he was dosed, so I really don't think that was it. It was kinda snowing at the time he says someone passed him and he thinks they barely clipped him in the front end. I will try to get him to get on this site, we are all sadly very used to all of this. My husband and I have both been clean from herion for almost 4 years. His dad was kicked off the pain clinic so that's why his is on methadone now, but it ***** he has to drive an hour away everyday to go to the clinic. Have a merry Christmas also, thanks! All of us that are clean have so much to be greatful for, life is horrible when you are using.
And did they give him any sort of pain or anxiety type medicine there? To calm him if needed? If so he needs to tell the clinic. Give them a copy of the release paperwork showing what was done and what he needs to do. If they test him and it shows up he is covered. If they don't know they could refuse to let him decrease bc regulations state if you test positive you can't. Or they would decrease him quickly over the next week or 2 and that is too fast if you want to do it without much wd symptoms.
I hope he is ok. Very scary.
