your dad sounds like such a sweetheart.  you are blessed to have him.  ask him if he would attend a NA meeting with you, that might make more sense to you.  they also have 'newbie' meetings.  that will help you a lot, but i would try and keep your dad with you.  newbie meetings can be a bad idea if people are still using and are there only because they have to be.

Yay Kelly~!
You GO girl!  So happy you're taking this next step in your recovery journey!  What an enormous blessing you have in your dad :). HUGE!

I have the Big Book on my cell - it's an app. I think it's free... mine is called 12StepAA... I love that I can access and read at anytime. How it works and The Promises are my two favorite "go to" reads... good places to start!  Keep at this honey.  You're doing great!!

Don't fret too much about the next steps... it will come. Your dad is a fabulous resource... and I fully agree with him and OpenMind... KISS!  Get a sponsor after you make some connections and build some relationships...
Keep goin' back! Keep choosing YOU girl!

Kelly!! Love what you wrote here!! Glad you enjoyed the meeting with your dad! My daughter and I did the exact same thing when she started on her recovery journey and we still do. Over the years we've gone to many meetings together. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy going with her. There's the meeting in the car before the meeting, the meeting (separate tables) and then the meeting after the meeting. Like your dad says, keep it simple, you'll get a sponsor and work the steps all in Gods time. Congratulations!!
