from Methadon detoxing to Oxicodon
I have been detoxing from Methadon for a few years now. It goes slow for me, too slow. I don't even know if I could get clean since the side effects are so strong. Lately I started taking Oxicodon and I am contemplating get off the Methadon through the Oxicodon and then go down slownly on the Oxicodon, until I am totally clean.
Does my plan makes sense? What is your experience and advice?

Hi well to me it sound like a good way to get hooked on the oxy...there is no get out of jail free card here your going to have to withdrawal on something if you been on the methadone for years it will come back to methadone withdrawals + the oxy will get you high making it a no win plan if your trying to get clean just go for the methadone detox and be done with it.....Gnarly
I started with 170mg and started detoxing about three years ago. It was blind detox so i don't know how it went. i had no symptoms. there was a break because my counselor left and my doctor did not have the orders so i got stuck with the same dose for six months not knowing since it was blind. then i got started again and i started to get really ill, and after two months of being ill and not being able to function i asked the doctor and he said that he had been making a decrease every seven to ten days which for me was way too fast. i got down to thirteen mg. at which point i went back to see the doctor and they had to put me back to 35mg to stabilize me. now i am on 33mg, not blind detoxing anymore. now i also take the oxi for a nerve damage in my shoulder and the arthritis.
I would like to get off of it all very much, but as little symptoms as possible. I went through detox in jail and it nearly kill me. the withdrawal symptoms terrify me.

Tapering for a few years is a very long time. Did you start out on a very high dosage?
Yes definitely tell them you want to know. Seems they are stringing you along at this point.

it was blind, so i don't know, but i think i will start controlling it myself and ask. It's an important question.
