xanax withdrawls?

I'm ten days clean off opiates.  I've had pretty bad anxiety and it's gotten worse since I quit and have been prescribed xanax along with an antidepressant.  I have been taking about 5-6 .25 mg tablets of the xanax for the past few days.  I never realized they were addictive and had a withdrawal too until reading a few posts on here.  Another addiction is the last thing I want!  Anyone know how much and how long you have to take the xanax before you risk having withdrawals?  I don't want to withdraw from anything ever again!  Thanks

HI .....your best bet is to get a hold of a doctor and ask about the seizures coming off benzos is never any fun your not going to feel like yourself for a wile I dont think the doctors will put you back on clonipine but they may have you take an anti seizure med for a wile
this is something you deffenetly  want to ask your doctor about its nothing to mess with..good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

I was on about 3-4 miligrams a day of xanax.....for about a year and a half...I tapered down to 1 miligram a day on kolonipin..then my medicines got stolen while overseas. I was on kolonopins just one month , now im 7 days clean off all benzos but i had to do it CT. The first few days i was sweating and very adgitated, i had a high heart beat and was very shaky and could not sleep at aLL.Now on day 7 i finally slept but when i woke up i do not feel like i got any sleep....my eyes are wide awake, feel like im speeding.I also have this horrible taste in my mouth for 7days.....does anyone know when that will go away?...im not as shaky now..but still feel horrible...does anyone know if i am safe from having a seisure now that i have been clean for 7 days?...and how long will it take till i feel some what normal again?.....and will this constant numb feeling ever go away?

Stop right now!!! Taper for a week. Believe me you don't wanna taper from long use of benzos. Xanax is HIGHLY addictive and you're already taking 2mg a day. Just go thru the wd's of the opiates. I know it sounds harsh but you gonna be so thankful you didn't get hooked on a benzo.
all my strength and support. sophie.

You dont want to go through a benzo withdrawal, in some ways it can be harder to deal with than opiate w/d's. Trust me Ive made the mistake a few times when coming off opiates in taking xanax for periods of time and it made me pay the price. If you can keep it under a couple of weeks then its really not a problem, but any longer and you can have some degree of w/d's. Just be really careful, xanax or any other benzo is nothing to take lightly. I wish you the best of luck with your recovery, take care.

Yeah, you're right.  I've been looking into it- I'm going to just take one a day for the next couple of days and save the rest for the worst days.  Thanks!

Get off the xanax as soon as possible, I wouldn't advise anyone to take that.  I know your Dr. did, I hate that too, !

Perhaps you could take it for a week or two, but you sure will need to wean off very slowly.  It does mess with your head if you just quit all of a sudden.  Only speaking because my son took it for awhile and he said never again.
