how do we deal with real pain

I am on day 6 of my taper off Norco, I am down to half a pill, I have back pain,I am a hair styist  I have been working for years on meds, it started off for my pain but it soon turned into addiction, so pain is a huge trigger for me, my brain is saying what the hell, wheres my relief, the advil helps but I am still hurting, so it scares me that I will have to live with  chronic pain. I relize right now I have zero pain tollerance due to how long and how much pain meds I took, so I am praying in time it will lesson. But right now in this moment I am in pain, I came home on a break and have to go back to work in an hour. So I guess I am needing some advise or something to anyone who has pain issues, how do you live day to day with pain?? and live drug free.

RIGHT NOW your experiencing rebound pain it will be a bit worst because there is no artificial or natural endorphins flowing in your brain as your body starts to produce endorphins again on its own things like advile and motrin will start to work better it going to tak a wile but in the end you will find like most of us you will be in less pain off the pills then on them the body gets use to its ''fix'' and actually creates the pain to get the narcotic just some time and things will get better good luck and God bless......Gnarly

The pain from wds I no what you are going through you may need to get into detox for a week or two they will help you with the pain for a little while and then you might think about a treatment center for drug addicts. But if you want to try to do this yourself the Thomas recipe will help drink plenty of water and fluids just hang in there it will get better.

Until you see where your pain levels are w/o the pain meds..you will never know for sure.  Your brain wants you to take those little devils and will almost make the pain worse so you will.  You have got to stop to see if OTC will then help.  I know it *****, but if you try you will then know what to do.

I think the chiropractor and acupuncture are good ideas.  You should try those without taking the norco.  How will you know until you stop the norco?

I have tried a lot of things but never without takeing the norco, so its hard to say I guess what works and what dos'ent. I also have not followed through with therapys because my pain justified or should I say my addictin rationalized takeing my norcos.

Sorry hun.  I am in the same boat but have been told that you really will not know where you actual pain level is until you have been off the meds for a month.  Have you looked into alternative methods for pain relief?  I have tried accupuncture and it works, I also go to a chiroprator and that seems to help a lot as well.  I did get off my meds in summer for close to a month but was in a accident and ended up having a couple surgeries and bam... here I am again going through this nonsense.
