Encouragement for all the new faces!

I don't come to the site very often anymore as I am a very busy Mother and student now.  Going on 18 months clean from opiates.
I like to pop in once in a while and give an update for those on the site that played a big roll in helping to get me where I am today and also send some hope and encouragement to all the new faces.
My journey has been long and painful as many of you know, including felony drug charges and a quite some time in jail but I wouldn't trade any of that pain for where I am today.
If you are just starting out, please trust that it will get better.  I got tired of people telling me that but once I had some significant clean time, I realized that they were absolutely right.  Life is better now than I ever would have imagined.
Today I spend a little bit of time a few days each month by going to the jail and holding AA meetings for those so desperate to break the cycle as I was when I sat in that very same jail not so long ago.
Please don't give up, give in or give out to this sick sick disease.  Know that you are worth it.  And please don't hesitate to message me if you need a little extra support or just need to talk!
And a big HELLO to all my old friends here!  So happy to see you all doing so well...

That's great that you go to the jails and hold AA meetings. As someone who was once in jail and went to AA meetings...I can say your making a difference and planting the seed or recovery in many a mind. Thank you.

Also...congrats on the 18 months!

It is a huge mental game, and one that you will always have to stay on top of but I promise you that as each day passes, it gets a little better.  I am almost a year and a half clean and I still deal with the mental side of it but it doesn't consume me anymore.  When I have those days, all it takes is to remind myself of everything I've lost, the time spent in jail away from my daughter and becoming a felon because of how far I let my addiction take over. You have to push through each day and remind yourself of why you want this.  No one said its going to be easy but it is definitely worth it and you will soon see that. You are worth it!

U r such an inspiration.  I am really struggling and it helps to see that it is possible.  I don't post much because I still have the shakes its hard to type on my tablet. I am heading into day 14 and reaaly struggling.  I miss the pills so much. It's more of a mental game right now.  Thanks for sharing.
