Clonodine Question...

So the doc finally called back at the end of the day. At 3 days off the norco the idiot recommended that I go on Suboxone. I declined. Figured that I had made it this far and didn't want to have to withdraw off anything else. He called in a script for clonodine and xanax (too many which I won't use past this week or next). Stupid.
Anyway, I'm wondering how long does it take for the clonodine take to take effect? Is it something I should be feeling some relief from tonight, or will it be a few days? Thanks. Day 4 here I come.

To the orignial poster, you can pretty much take as much clondidine as you want, it can help with the creepy crawlers you get when detoxing.

However, you said you're on day 3, DO NOT get on SUBOXONE!!!!!  In another two to three days you will feel soo much better, you will start to get your energy back and you will feel better.  You will have cravings, but the average craving is only 15 seconds so try and have something to control that, try and have things to do so when you get one it doesn't last long because if you're just sitting there doing nothing than a craving can last a long time if you fantasize about it.

But as for the clondidine, you can take as many as you need.  I was on methadone for 5 years and got off last oct and took clondidine and my doc told me to take as many as needed.

The clonodine works! I got a full night sleep last night and feel a lot calmer today. Haven't needed to take the xanax at all yet today and probably won't until this evening. But you are all right....it definitely slows you down. I'm hoping to get out of the house for a bit today, but at this point feeling very sluggish. Hopefully I won't have to take this for long. How long do most people stay on it? Here's to my 4th day...

Hey.. good for you ..

Clonodine is a good drug for the acute detox.. it does lower your blood pressure.. It really slows you down, which is good ..  Just be really careful with it .

Everyone who detoxes seems to be different.. if Thursday is day 5, you might feel good enough to go out, but will probably not have a lot of energy.. for me, it took about 8 days..

I have been clean for about 33 days now...  I was told I had a severe detox.. it seems that the length of time you abused the drug and the size of dose affects the severity..

Anyway.. I have to tell you that when the detox ends, your really just getting started. In my case, detox was like a brutal beating.. after about 4-5 days of being pummeled by the addiction, it gave up on my body and attacked my mind..  Its been a month and its better, but its a lot of work..

Thanks all of you for the info. I was just checking to see what was "usual" dosage. Will not take anything extra without at least calling the doctor...if at all.  I'm already over the lack of energy that I've been feeling...before taking the clonodine, so I don't want to increase that. I will tell you all that it is working. I am much calmer. I also took some Hyland Restful Legs which is helping as well. I was actually able to spend a decent amount of time with my young daughters without wanting to scream because they were stressing me out. :)
Hoping for a decent night sleep tonight and maybe between that and the clonodine/xanax I will be over the worst of it tomorrow. Suppose to go to a party on Thursday night (very innocent girls night kind of thing), Do you guys think I will be in a place to be social by then?

I agree, listen to your doctor.  I have the same fears as you about blood pressure.  I have very low blood pressure, and my dr told me suboxone lowers it too.  Even when I was in withdrawal in her office my blood pressure was low, so I was scared of anything lowering it more.  Read the side effect on the sheet the pharmacy gave you.  It should tell you the things to watch for like dizziness etc, should your BP get to low.  If you start to feel any of those things, then I would deffinately call the dr and voice your concern.  Just listen to what your body is telling you :)

Good Luck & God Bless

Remember guys...we need to leave the dosages to the doctors. We don't have the history that a doctor does. When all else fails...heed your doctor's advice and dosages.

I was prescriped .1mg once every six hours as needed.  I only took them when I was off work going thru the detox every 6 hours cause they make you tired.  A week later I was at 1 per night at bedtime.  They will relax you and help you sleep and get rid of the creepy crawly leg feelings.  1 hour tops and you will feel some relief.  I still take one every once in a while at bedtime.  I think you should find dome relief if you follow the instructions from docter.  Good Luck

So one a day for a low blood pressure person may work just fine? Sick of feeling so lethargic since I have been tapering for close to 3 weeks already, so I don't want to extend that. How long do most have to stay on it?

I take Clonidine and it really does help.  I'm taking it right now.  You should feel better within an hour easy.  Most docs start at .1 and it's 2 or 3 times a day.  Some people, depending on your BP and WD symptoms, will need .2 mg.  I would not start that high though.  WD makes you lethargic, and clonidine will make that a lot worse if you don't watch out.  Feels like walking in mud!

Hey,
Ga Guy is right, it will take about an hour, but TRUST me they will help.  I went off 50mg of methadone last week, and they saved me.  They are not gonna completely take all the withdrwals away but they will help..   Good Luck.. You can do this.. It will get better.. God Bless

Do you know what dose most people take of this? I told my doctor that I generally have pretty low blood pressure and he gave me the lowest dose. .1mg once a day. Is this typical or do most people take it 2xday at a higher dosage? As long as it works I'm happy, but if it doesn't am just curious in case I need to call him to have it increased. Thanks!
