How Long Will Detox Take???? Help

I am detoxing from hydrocodone right now and it is difficult.  I have no plans to take anymore pills but am struggling with the side effects.  A couple of months ago I decided to get off my prescription and for two weeks I had leg twitches, esp. at night.  Finaly I took a pill to go to sleep.  Now I have been on track and anticipating a drug free future.  My issue is the length of time it will be to feel quote "normal"
I have been feeling like I have a terrible cold and that part has somewhat passed.  This time around I don't have the leg twitches, thank God, but I do have nausea.  I am a diabetic and that part is difficult not to mention the feeling of always wanting to throw up.  I am drinking water, taking vitamins, moving slowly and doing my best to endure this but now I am wondering how darn long will it take???!!!  I have been without a pill for six days.  I really needed to write here and I thank you for listening.  Can you recommend any help?  Thank you and God Bless

Thank you all for writing so quickly!  I have been on pain releivers since my accident and operation eight years ago.  I've been on everything to releive the pain ~ vicodin, darvocet, hydrocodone and even shots of morph at the ER.
My dosage was not really high ~ 2 pills a day ~ but I guess the length of time I've taken it has given me these awful w/d reactions.  I was so surprised with my leg twitches when I first tried to stop.  Now, as I said it's the nauseau and blahs.
After I read all your posts I went into the hot tub and got out to meditate and had a nice long nap.
I had a glass of water and am feeling like I'm about to upchuck that!  I am amazed at my bodies' response to having no medication.  I have told my husband and son what I'm doing and my precious 20 year old said, "I'm proud of you mom."  That made me feel so good.  I am thinking about contacting NA for continuued support.  You guys here are amazing.  Thank You so much.  Wish me luck for the rest of this journey.  I'll tell you what happens.  Thanks again for your support ~ I sure needed you all today.
Love, AprilWind

6 days means you're almost done with the rough part. Check out the Health pages on the right of page. Look at Thomas recipe and aminos acids. Get started on them and vitamins, supplements right away. It will help you in your recovery.

Congratulations on day 6!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats GREAT!  I can remember times that I detoxed from them, they were my drug of choice also,it would be around 10 days for me before I could say I actually felt physically better.I don't know how much you were using and that factors in.I did about 20 7.5's a day.Hang in there after 6 days you're past the halfway mark, and keep posting .This forum has been my saving grace.Peace.

I agree with r2r. Watch it closely with your condition. What you are feeling is totally normal. You should be feeling much better soon. The timeframe on withdrawl usally depends on how much and what you were taking.

You are doing great! Congrats on 6 days!!!!!!!
