MOVING AND WORKING ON "ME"

after years of my life being consumed by addiction through my sons...i have had enough!  

my mother has always had problems with depression and panic attacks...and i have basically always taken care of her emotional needs.  my sons have made me live addiction for the last 15 years.  my father...my hero...died two years ago...and now i am dealing with the pain of my son getting hiv.  i am tired of taking care of everyone else and at 52 (in april)...have decided that it is time for ME to live!

my adhd does NOT allow me to live in the same house for over 5 years...lol...so it is time to move again.  this time...i am not moving across town...i am moving 4 hours away.  i have found my "ideal" beach cottage in panama city beach and i'm taking the plunge.  my husband will be staying here and moving into one of the apartments that we own...and will travel down every weekend.  the good thing about this cottage, is that i can lease it with an option to purchase after a year...so that hubby and i can see how this commuting will work for us.  i have family that is only 5 minutes from the house and i also have friends there...so i will not just be isolating myself from the world...although right now...that doesnt sound like such a bad thing.

never in a million years would i have been able to make this change if it were not for the time that i have spent on this forum over the past year.  as with you...this has been "my" therapy.  it has given me a strength beyond what i could have ever imagined.  it has taught me more about addiction than i had learned before through meetings and counseling.  connecting one on one with you guys...talking to real ppl fighting this battle...and allowing "others" to help me...has brought me to this stage in my life.

i am a natural born caregiver...a fixer...and quite a stubborn cuss at that.  sooooo giving up is not going to be an easy thing to do...but i am ready to give it a shot.  i'm not getting any younger damnit...and it's TIME FOR ME!!!  ME...ME...ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cottage on the beach sounds like a dream come true! You deserve it. Enjoy it and stock up on sunscreen.  And just say NO to hurricanes.  lol

Hey....congrats!!!! My sister lives in Panama City and has been there for 15 years....it's a beautiful area....I was there to visit with my kids when I only had the two and they were very young! We went to the state park that is nearby...I forget the name but it was really clean and the water was great!

I'm having more problems with Nick and I have been really tough on him lately....I may be calling on you soon for advice!

i am so happy for you!!!  You have been through so much and even though addiction has hurt you,  you were still willing to help us here...Well i am not sure i could of went through some times with out you...I mean that...At the beginning it seemed almost like a losing battle, but u always kept me straight...Even when i found out my own child was using, u were there again..Thanks from the bottom of my heart!!

Also i love panama city and we go every summer....So maybe i can visit u one day!!

omg really, lizzie and gizzy, lmao. those are 2 great dog names, gizzy is almost 15, but he is still healthy and runs, it's crazy. also have fergus and xena, haha. i love dogs so much.

now about this "naming the puppy"...lolol.  i am still going back and forth between a couple...so i thought i would wait until i get him and see which one fits him.  but NOW there is a new name i just HAVE to throw in the mix...GIZZY!!!!!!  my female is "lizzie".  i think that's kind of cute...lizzie and gizzy :)
