There's a big difference in being dependent vs. addicted. Anyone taking any narcotic for a length of time will become dependent. I can't understand why your doctor took you off your meds. Did you have a pain contract and somehow violated it?
I would encourage you to check out the Pain Management Forum. If you're not addicted and looking to get off meds totally, you may find help there. It's for chronic pain patients and the issues they face. There are people there who have been cut off their meds for various reasons.
If you don't know why you've been cut off, I would call your doctor's office and ask for a reason. If they cut you off for violating a pain contract, you are likely red flagged.
If you can't manage your pain until you can talk to your doctor, you can always go to the ER. I'm sure they'd give you something to hold you over until you can see your doctor or figure things out.
I don't understand why they would take you off pain medication. Could it be that the dosage has been steadily increased and is now extremely high. I am sure you are addicted, but that is not the same thing as being a "drug addict" who takes the stuff for non pain purposes. What was their reason for taking you off the medications?
