I to not look at this like im a loser that because i had a car accident i feel sorry for myself.  she described in her post that she wanted people to feel sorry for her i dont want the empathy all i want is the support and to know that there are people like me and the person taking norco out there that can realte to the same thing and perhaps i came off to strong which i do feel bad for but im a hardliner.  I know were here for all the same reasons.  and we feed off the support of each other.  I know that feeling sorry for your self is always part of the the first phase of recovey.  but sometimes people need to be straight with each other to shake them up a little.  So after I left studiogirl that note I did feel somewhat bad.  I just want her to recovery and that is how it is been for me all my life someone always shaking me up.

I was taking Norco, which is more or less the same thing.  I would cut down, taper, and quit as soon as you can.  It's not real hard to quit hydrocodone, if you compare it to most other opiates.  So, that's one bright side, you don't have it that bad, it could be worse and you could be addicted to something much stronger.  But the withdrawals are no fun, I know.  I took 40 Norco 10's once in a 14 hour time span.  At 115 pounds, that's a lot.  I would average like 20-25 a day.  And for extended periods of use.  Really with hydrocodone, you can just go Cold Turkey.  Even when you are taking a lot each day.  But probably best and easier to taper down to as few pills as you can per day, then quit.  It's kinda bad for maybe 3-5 days, then the rough part is over.  After 3-4 weeks and you will be back at 95-100% Normal again.  So it don't take tooo long to get off hydrocodone and get back to normal.  You can do it, you just have to want it.  You have to let go of the desire of getting high and feeling good off of them, and let go.  It's not easy, I know.  But I wish you luck and hope you get to where you want to be.

Hey Nic -   There is some really good posts here and I hope you are actually ready to quit.  The sure sign you are ready is when you decide to burn your bridge back to your supply -----  You need to do that ---- we all have 'weak' moments so if you leave the door open or keep the drugs around  - you will use again.  One of the best things I did (and the hardest) was to tell my doctor because I knew she was my supply and I would be cutting that supply off.   But man, what freedom and then you just concentrate on getting through the detox and W/D's and you will be successful.   Everyone on here wishes you well --- Please -- Please Nic -- keep posting --- don't try to do this alone--  Many former addicts are on this site just to try and help someone else.  All the best.

Hi welcome to the forum.  I came of Vicoprofen back in April.  I know the hell you are feeling.  You dont need to be a prisoner to these pills anymore.  Go into the health pages and look at the aminos and vitamin supplements.  Get going with these, i took Vit. C, B12 and B6 to begin with.  The next week is going to be rough and you will feel like you have the flu.  Try getting some exercise even if it is walking around the house.  Drink plenty of fluids and try and eat some bland food.  If you enjoy music play it.  I am over 5 months clean and it was worth every ache and pain i had.  We abused our bodies for a long time so it does take awhile to feel better.  YOU CAN DO THIS.  Keep telling yourself that you are finally taking back your life.  It really does feel good.  It is so worth it.  You are not alone here.  Stay strong         sara

Hey, in my experience, when you are ready to quit, you will.  As the earlier poster said, if you have opes around, get rid of em, for sure.

25-32 pills a day?!?  I am in Canada and we do not have Vicoprofen, but I assume that is hydrocodone and ibuprofen?  How in the name of %$^& do you still have a GI tract left?  That much ibuprofen must have been hard on the old colon mate.

In any case, I wish you well.  Good luck.  Keep in mind that it is in your head to quit, if you want to.  You cannot quit for your cat, your fish, your mum, your priest, whatever, you have to quit for you.  When you are ready, you will quit.

regards,

Ray

No tommrow will not be worse. You will never have to do day 1 again and that's good right? I used snuggle safe microwavable heat pads in my clothes. Electric blanket , hot baths. Drink alot water. If you have green tea or other antioxidant drinks that helps. Imodium for the runs.  The first time I got clean I used valium every 8 hours 5 mg and ambien for 3 or 5 days cant remember. But I used after 2 weeks and had to go ct that time. I came here alot and many wonderful people helped me and I helped others and time went by. I also had many people praying for me and I prayed alot too and read the bible at night when I couldn't sleep. They say there is power in the Word and I believe it. Another thing that helped was PROCRASTINATE when I thought I was going to use I would put if off for a hour or whatever and the compulsion passed. Come here and post.

Welcome to the forum.
You must decide if you are truely ready to be done with the pills. If you are then it can be done.
You will be sick for about 5 days, then it should get better each day from there. Look to the right and read the HEALTH PAGES, the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid Protocol. These will help.
But you must decide you are done. Then hunker down and deal with it.
Post on this forum as much as you need. There's tons of people here that will help and support your efforts.
Good luck and make the decision to get clean once and for all.

Do you still have pills in ur house?  if u do it will make it tough to go one day without taking any..really tough...if ur goal is to see if u can make it one day..then give ur pills to someone and see how it goes...one day is not a bad goal...exercise, be positive..go fill the aminos and supps in the thomas recipe...if u have anything for anxiety then try that with safety in mind...if u make it one day u will see that u can make it one day..then another..and another...i found a home at an AA group...like u i did not fit in in NA...i wasnt quite at their level of use or social background..AA is very prevalent in all classes of people and all professional levels...alcohol is just easier to get ur hands on and more socially acceptable..but i could relate to them..good luck
