is there anyone out there that can give me advice on how to get through the pain of stopping snorting pills? I am prescribed meds for real pain and I'm having oral surgery this month but I need to stop snorting my meds but the pain is literally unbearable, I would rather die than continue to live with this pain, the pain in my face behind my eye in my throat my nose and my whole face is excruciating I've gone two days and it's impossible, the only thing that stops the pain is taking another pill through my nose. any advice on something that I can use to ease this pain but I can get through this will be greatly appreciated, please help me, I can't go to a doctor because they will take me off of my meds and I need them for my medical issues. is there anything I can purchase over the counter that will ease this pain to help me get through this I am in dire need of help

yes I've already gotten to that point, I have gotten to a place where I couldn't control how many I was taking so now I have someone who keeps them in there safe and they put out my pills for me each day, pathetic yes I know, I am disgusted with where my life has gone and I'm trying to make it right

Maybe talk to the other DR who is going to do the surgery. They can make sure you do not get cut off if they tell them you are going to work on a taper after the pain goes away.
It sounds like you are trying to take care of it and coming on here is the first step to admitting you have a problem..Well I should say admitting to yourself is the first step. You will be OK and so much better off these pills. They do cause more pain in the long run because they mess up our natural pain chems. Good Luck!
Keep us updated on how everything goes down the line.
Meanwhile do you have anybody who can hand these meds out to you when it is time for one??

I've been on the pain meds for 5 years for my neurological condition that causes my debilitating headaches and I'm having brain surgery for it in May, at my last monthly appointment I told my doctor that once I recover I would like her to help me taper off my meds and she said that we will work on that as soon as I recover so that plan is already in place,I'm sure I have probably done some serious damage possibly requiring surgery now to my face and I'm tempted to go see an ear nose and throat doctor tomorrow however I'm afraid if they do that they will send the records to my doctor and I will be cut off of all of my meds before my surgery, I've had the last 4 days off of work and have tried to stop and have not been out of bed in those 4 days, I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow but I don't see how I can get through an hour with this pain, I know I have a problem and I'm ready to fix it

Hi!
Well, I would say to you to just say NO to the snorting, but I have snorted coke, crank and then before I came clean I was snorting my Methadone with a bit of Adderral in it. I do not have adhd so it was like my crank days. Even if I did drugs off & on for over 40 yrs there was some damage. The snorting takes away the Hair in your nose that is their to help catch things. Once that is gone you go right to the lining. I got to where it hurt like heck to snort on my right. I used to put Vaseline up my nose. YOU are snorting some bad snuff here. There will be no way out unless you stop!!!! I have some time behind me now and my nose is OK.
You do not want the DR to know, so you can continue on these meds right?? Then you better put your foot down now! You can put some meds in hot water if you want it to come on quicker, yet this is for sure ADDICTION behavior
There are TONS of people on here with major pain, but they have chosen to do this with out these pain pills. These pills totally unbalance the neurochemisty in your brain which affects the body. Maybe look into getting off and talk to DR about a taper after surgery
I wish you the best and I pray you STOP this NOW
Bless.

PS. It might be your nose now but down the line it can be something worse that gets damage.

I have been taking them orally the last 2-3 days, but it does absolutely nothing for this pain in my face, if I go to the doctor now I risk them cutting me off of my meds immediately and I need to wait until after I recover from my surgery next month, I don't know what to do

No I don't think there is. And even if there was a drug to take, non of us could recommend it because we don't know the extent of the damage you've caused already. We could cause you more harm. If you're going to take them I'd recommend just orally that's for sure. It is probably working you're just missing that first rush from snorting. When you take orally it will last 2-3 hours. When you snort it's half hour to an hour. So like I said if you are going to take them, just do oral. Eventually they will feel like they're working.

the meds that I am taking are meds that I am prescribed both hydrocodone and oxycodone, I am wanting to quit snorting them and just take them orally, I'm having brain surgery in about 3 weeks so logically I can't stop taking my pain meds yet, I've already told my doctor after I recover from my surgery I want to get off of them and she's working on a plan to do so however she does not know that I have been snorting them for the last three years, the last 3 days I have attempted to stop snorting them and only take them orally but the pain is the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, burning in my nose like I'm putting acid on an open sore, pressure in my face swallowing feels like I'm swallowing razor blades and on and off bloody noses, I was just on major antibiotics 2 weeks ago for a sinus infection so I'm leaning towards thinking that that's not it, the only thing that take this pain away is snorting another pill, I want nothing more than to never snort another pill again. I am well aware of the fact that I have an addiction and fully plan on getting off of these meds after I recover from my surgery. but as of right now I'm looking for something over the counter that will help me to stop taking them in this manner without this unbearable pain

Try this: buy tylenol in pill form.  Crush two, like you would if you were going to snort them.  Instead of doing that, add a drop or three of water and mix into a paste.  Put this on your face where it hurts.  The medicine will leak through your skin and directly to the place it needs to be.

What are you snorting?  I think we have seen you before, and your wanting to know whats going to stop the pain in your nose, aren't you?Sounds like your wanting to keep doing what your doing, but since your nose has ahole in it, your wanting to know what OTC medicine you can use, am I right, I think I am. Come back and tell what drug your snorting. You really need to get to a doctor and get help before like Ben says, it turns septic.

I agree with the comments already said about the doc. But coming from someone who knows what snorting pain pills does... First, it's like your nose gets used to it and when you don't snort them, you feel like a runny nose and some pain. But not the pain you're describing. I know it's scary to tell your doc and getting cut off but what if this is serious? They are going to find out eventually. If it's a legit doc, they should help you. Or find one that will. First though, you've GOT to decide if you want to quit.

What are you snorting? I'd be willing to bet its heavily cut with APAP (Tylenol). You probably have a severe sinus infection. The APAP is terrible for your nose. If you leave an infection untreated, it can become septic. You don't want that. You should see a doctor about your nose. if you're snorting your pain pills, you're abusing them. Ideally you'd work with your doctor on some other pain management solution as this one isn't working.

I'm a little confused by your post? Are you just in-between scripts or do you want to quit? One part of your post you say you can't live like this and have to stop. If that's the case you need to tell your doc so you can have your supple cut off. But then you said you can't tell your doc because you need them for legitimate pain, which says you don't want to quit? Being addicted to opiates is one of the awfulest things that can happen to us. Being addicted to opiates and "snorting" them is beyond awful. They do enough damage on there own,I can't imagine the damage they are doing to you this way. You're in pain because they've probably eaten your nasal cavity. I do hope you're here because you want to quit.
