Day 1 of weaning off fioricet...

Hi,
Like many of you I started this years afo for migraines then began to just take it to feel good.  It really doesn't give me that "high" any more.  I have taken up to 6 at a time.  basically just knocks me out.  I have read that you can't just stop fioricet.  Can anyone tell me how they weaned themselves of it.  I am very shakey, heart pounding, tired and have a stomach ache. That is after taking only 8 this morning.....

Just a quick note to say hi! Hi My name is Jennifer and you can do this. It will be hard I'm not going to lie to you.  but you have to really want to do this are you will just end up were you at.  Start by cuting down by a half every two weeks if this is to much then by half by a month.  have somebody lock up your medication. and do lots of walking and eat well and stay away from lots of sugar in take your vitamins in lots og b12 just one a day on b12 though any how any ? just e-mail me and I will be glad to answer anything that I can to help you.  Hang in there.

hi ann, today is the first day i am cutting back from taking fioricet and i am so scared... I am 38 yrs old with 3 girls, one 20, one 16 and one 4. It got really bad after my mother died in 2006, that is also when I found out i was !!!! I was in the middle of my medical career, everything changed!!! I was married to an alcoholic, my father is an alcholic, he has been sober for 13 yrs. My husband sober for 5 in November..anyhow 2 day is day one and i am scared...how do i start?  Trm 06

  Thanks for your response.  So far it was 17 pills on Thurs. 15, yeaterday and now probably go down by 1 a day.  I read somewhere that you can decrease 10% at a time. My fiance is overseas and will be back in December.  He know nothing of this.Knows that i have migraines and takes meds for them but doesn't know the depth of this disease.
  So hopefully by the end of this month I will have stopped or close to it.  Am going to a NA meeting today.  Went once a couple of years ago when my fiance was away. Stopped for about 3 months.  This time I have real physical problems from it.  Tiredness, ?? about poor liver, poor concentration .....

Hi I am where you are right now I know how you feel I started to taper 62 days ago I was at 20 Pills a day then went to 8 cold turkey for one month then cut by a half each 30 days down to 7 right now almost down to 6/12 it does feel like you are going to die at first but trust me it gets better. I know trust me just cut down in tapper but don't cheat
My husband holds my meds in gives them to me on a daily basic. He lock them up in a safe so I can not get to them. Pllus I know in my mind I;m done with this drug  I know I can think clearly in do alot more things. You can too. Good Luck!!!
