Question for "Long Timers"

Hi all. I have been on and off this board for years.

Quit/relapse/quit...you know the drill.

I was on Vicodin for over 10 years. All Dr. scripts.
I have never bought on the street, and (God help me) never will.

Due to issues with the (Idiot) doctor, I tapered and was finally off all Vicodin by the end of March 2011.
Long, terrible withdrawals. Again, you know the drill.

My question: I have now been clean for almost 3 months and I still feel like I'm in minor withdrawal.
I still have that heeby-geeby feeling. I still get the terrible leg things at night.
I am so worried that this is it. That I will never again just feel NORMAL.

3 months is a long time. Could I till be in withdrawal?
This just scares me to death.

Thank you. I will do that. But the RLS only hits periodically now.
It is more the blahs.
The creepy crawlies.
The "I thought I would feel great by now".

WORD OF ADVICE:
I'm reading a lot from posters here who have been addicted for a fairly short time.
GET OFF NOW.
Don't go years and years. Please listen to me.

Listen to Sarah.  Talk to the doctor about the RLS.  There are medications for it now.  I have lived with RLS my whole life. There used to not be anything that they could do for it...but now there is medicine for it.  Talk to your doctor.  And have patience....you have come a really really long way.  Congrats on your clean time thus far- There are many people that would kill to have as much clean time as you do right now.  Have patience...you will be feeling completely normal again really soon.

No, patience is NOT one of our best assets!

I just hate the fact that I felt better when I was taking the pills every day.
But, I was on them (about 8 a day for over 10 years) a long time.
I guess I may have been so dependent that it will take me longer to fully withdraw.

I just really hate the creepy crawly feeling. :(

3 months isnt really that long given the amount of time you were using.  Patience isnt one of our best assets either!!  You will feel normal again.  I would talk with your doctor about the RLS if it doesnt go away.  There are things you can take that are non narcotic.

Congrats on your clean time!!!!!!!!              sara

I'm not sure if I'm a long timer?  Maybe.....

But anyway.....it's definitely not acute withdrawal.  I think sometimes with really long term daily use, it can take a while to get rid of every, single symptom.  That's normal and shouldn't concern anyone.  Run it by a doctor though!

Congrats on your clean time!  That's a big deal!!!! : )
