opiate withdraw

I am trying to taper off prescription prescribed Norco. I was prescribed them for degenerative disc in neck and back..I have c/t off of them 2 other times, I thought maybe this time I would try the tapering way. I absolutely don't know an easy way to come off of these devil pills especially for peeps that have pain. I certainly don't recommend anyone doing c/t.  Just wondering what advice anyone else has to offer on this hellish nightmare. I need all the feedback I can get and support. I guess im so scared because I have done this twice and no whats in store for me! I have jumped down from 50mgs of Norco only cause I was taking too much and ran out. So im taking 20mgs a day trying to stabilize but its not working too good. I already feel im in a living Hell and not even off of them yet.  Any support is appreciated and I will support you.

Hi and welcome!!!  I agree with jifmoc that very few people can taper successfully!  Our brains just tell us to take the pills!  SO we do!!!  I ended up just flushing my pills cause I was in WDs anyway so I figured I might as well just jump!  It really wasnt as bad as I had it built up in my mind to be.  Was it fun...NO....it S***ed!  But I got through it and came out the other side!  I was also on them for my back and neck and have found that my pain is so much better without them!!  It took about a month to not be in pain anymore but now it is manageable with just tylenol.  I havent even been back to the Pain Mgt Doc since I quit!  No shots or anything!  So you have to get yourself clean...give it some time and then see what your pain is like!  Most on here will tell you that it is so much less than when we were on them!  Take a read about this...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperalgesia
Definitely look up the Thomas recipe!  It will give you some ideas on supplements that may help your detox!  You can do this and we will all be here routing you on when you decide to jump!!!  Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on!!!

Hi, Chig, welcome to the forum. How long have you been using? Were you clean for any length of time?

Honestly, tapering just draws out the withdrawl process, and I have yet to meet an addict that can successfully taper anyway: we have the pills we take em. Withdrawl won't kill you, it just blows. Just jump. It feel horrible, but imagine it's April and this is behind you. How nice would that be? (the physical part anyway.) Of course you'll have to address the mental as well.

Look up the Thomas recipe on here. Get the immodium et al that's on there. Every single person that comes on this site is TERRIFIED of detox, and they psych themselves out. One of the very wise peeps on here always says: you just gotta be okay w/ NOT being okay for a while. We've all come out the other side, you can, too:)
