oxy and norco

I was addicted to meth in my late teens until early 20's when I went back to school and got my degree. In the last year I have been occasionally popping pain pills which gives me a euphoric high. This last round lasted about a month and I am worried about withdrawels. I have to work. I do have xanax and my son is on ritalin with clonidine to sleep. I was not a heavy user, just 2 pills a day. ANy suggestions.

u mean crystal meth?  many here say meth in reference to methadone.

Fact is there is no safe dose of anything for an addict...2 pills can become 10 pills in a heartbeat..letting go now is good..i would doubt seriously at 2 pills a day/assuming it is oxy or hydro/that u will have much if any physical wd after a month of use...the mental part/cravings etc will still be there....posting and seeking support can help..there is a great article in the health pages on cravings...the typical craving lasts less than 15 minutes..if u decide to dwell on it it can last for days until u cave..getting up and walking, cleaning out a closet etc will take the craving away often...if it continues then post..or hit a meeting..anything to get ur mind off of "how great i would feel if i used"  sometimes writing down the reasons u quit...keeping it close by can help...keeping any pills on hand is a big no no for most of us..it is a sure way to cave

I would be safe with the benzos///both xanax and klonopin are benzos....do u mean clonidine the BP medication?  it also has a sleep and calming effect and many use it for severe wds..but a 20 mg/2 pill daily user will probably not need clonidine/it needs to be used with caution if ur Blood pressure runs low....

Ritilin is an amphetamine and will affect ur brain like Crystal meth..same mechanisms of the brain r triggered..this would be a very bad move/taking ritilin for u..dont do it..there r other ways to get nrg like exercise, tyrosine helped me tons...even talking to ur dr about sumpin safe for nrg would be better than ritilin..for those who medically need ritilin it can have the opposite effect..for the majority of the population it is speed..My neighbors son was on ritilin for years..he was caught selling them at school..he no longer needed them as some children grow older and ADD resolves and his friends loved em..He was kicked out of school..she is also an addict..now he is as well but is addicted to narcotics.

in other words an addicting drug is an addicting drug including alcohol...substances may be a better word..a pill addict usually doesnt do well with another pill if used long enf nor alcohol....an alcoholic can become a pill head in a heartbeat...my friend is in the hospital after kicking alcohol yrs ago, hurting her back...and having a severe pill addiction

hard to admit but most of us have to leave all substances along..keep posting

Well fist of all congrats on getting off the meth, that is fantastic and getting your degree:) At 2 pills a day, it sounds like you can cold turkey with minor w/d symptoms if i read your post right. As you know addiction is progressive, so now is the time to nip this, before it gets worse, because chances are it will.

Look in the top right of this page under health pages. In there is the thomas recipe and that can help with w'/d's. Glad your wanting to stop, we are here for support and you will get some more feedback soon. Good luck, you can do this:) Just be careful with the xanax. Keep posting and welcome to the forum
