Where should I jump off the Hydrocodone at?

Hi, I was on Norco for 3 years, stopped cold turkey from an 14 to 20 a day habit. I was clean for 6 months and felt better than I had in a long time, well you know the story, I got back on them and it turned into a 15 to 20 a day habit for the last year almost now. My question is, I have been tapering by 5mg per day and I am finally down to 20 mg per day. I already fell much better, but I still went through some pretty bad wd.. I stuck with my plan till now though and the rest of my plan is as follows: Today: 20mg, tomorrow 15mg, Monday 10mg, Tuesday 5mg and Wednesday 5mg. That is when I will jump. Do you think I will feel much wd after that? Thanks for all of the support in the past and now and I am sorry I did this to myself again, but I will not after now going through this **** twice take another ******* pill in my life. I feel like an idiot, because I am a strong person, but this drug is the Devil.

Thanks to all and God bless

Well, it is day 7 and I feel much better. Day 5 and 6 were really tough mentally, I had to force myself to get out of the house and had a BBQ for family and friends, but it made me feel much better, like I accomplished something, still not sleeping great and the dreams are crazy, but it does seem to get better with each passing day. When does the motivation start to kick back in? I am really having a tough time with wanting to do anything and I do feel somewhat depressed still, but like I said, it is better than day 5 and 6...

Thank you for the support!

Good for you! Tapering is hard, but it sounds like you did it. Having been through it, you know that in a few days it will only get better from there. Next week you will look back and realize how much better you are feeling. When I read the beginning of your post, I was going to recommend that you go ahead and jump from where you were, but I see you beat me to it. Keep up the good work.

Hi Jimmy, I thought I couldn't do it too, but I did and you know you can do it, especially if you have done it before. Just don't let in to the addiction once you are done. I know that I never want to be back going through wd, sweat, hot,, freeze, sneezing, feeling like you want to come out of your skin and many other symptoms, Almost forgot all the $$$ you can blow.  I tell you what, dropping down 5mg a day is not so bad, if I can do it, then so can you. Once I got to that 15mg a day, I really could not even feel the effect, I was taking 5mg 3 times a day for two days and I just said I am done. Day one was the hardest, but like I said today being day 2 is not bad at all and I think tomorrow will be my turning point to feeling great again. Just think, you will not have to worry about not having pills when you go somewhere, you will be free and being free is the best thing anyone can ask for. I wish you best of luck my friend.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Congrats!!!  I just joined this community yesturday, and opened up to everyone about my 30+ norco 10/325 daily habit.  I am currently tapering off of them, and I have to say just reading your story is so motivating for me!  I'm sure when you first started, you felt the same way reading about people who finally got off, and are feeling like themselves again.  Its amazing how we completely lose track of who we really are.  I want to be where you are sooo bad!!!  I'm very proud of you!  I know it wasn't easy!  You should really reward yourself for accomplishing what you did!  But like alot of people have said...its not completely over yet.  Stay away and staying off of them is the hardest part!  perfect example of that is me.
I was able to successfully taper off of norco's a couple years back from a 15+ day habit, and unfortunately, here I am with a 30+ day habit trying to do the same thing.  I know that I can do it...I've done it once before, so I can do it again.
Anyways...just wanted to say congrats, and let you know that you inspire me to stay focused and on track!
Great job!!!!  Have a great day feeling like yourself, and stay motivated to stay off!!!

Day 2 already and I must say I am almost myself again! Tapering for me was by far the way to go. The knots in my stomach are gone, I don't feel anxious, I don't feel depressed today and the only thing I am dealing with is some chills (very minor) that I think will be gone by tomorrow. I am so glad to be off these pills, it is like I got out of prison!

Thanks to all

Hi~   Great!!   Try for symptomatic relief.  Get otcs for insomnia, restless legs(quinine).
Some suggest Nyquil without the decongestant for sleep. Don't forget vitamins and eating well.  Get some Pepto for your stomach.  Lots of water, especially during these next 48 hours...  Start thinking about an aftercare program.   :)

Well, I jumped yesterday at 3pm, I am feeling a little anxious and my stomach is in knots, a little bit of chills as well, but other than that, not too bad. I just hope it don't get worse. I decided to jump off because I was on 15 mg for the last two days and I just wanted out. I feel like I have no motivation and I just want to go to sleep so I don't have to deal with these feelings, but it is hard to sleep, tossing and turning all night. This seems like a walk in the park right now though, compared to last time. Last time I came off about 20 10/325 Norco per day and I was on them for a little over two years.

Thanks for the support!

Congratulations on your plan and your self-contol...Tapering is very difficult for addicts....but it seems you have great determination to be sober...Good for you!!  It will really depend on how you feel, yes, you will feel uncomfortable. You will prob have diarrhea and alot of anxiety and some trouble sleeping and some minor aches....it really shouldn't be that bad though....

But, it really depends on how long and how much in total you have been using.....My detox are pretty bad no matter what or how much I am coming off of....I am not a teen any more and have been abusing opiates for so long that I suffer greatly...But, since you have the capacity to taper yourself, I think you will be just fine...but remember if it gets too bad go to the ER and let someone help you....never be afraid to ask for help!  Good luck!
