How can you detox at home?

My hubby has been on all kinds of pain killers since his plane accident on 3/22/14. He came home 1 1/2 weeks ago from the hospital with Percocet, and Oxy 10mgs for pain. He decided to take himself off Cold Turkey two days ago. He is on Motrin 600-800mgs now. Problem is he's been getting sick through out the day and now has diahrrea too. Are these symptoms of withdrawal form Narcs? Is being on Narcs for less than a month addicting at all? I just feel so bad I don't know what to do to help him.

It definitely sounds like your husband is experiencing withdrawals. It doesn't take very long for someone to become physically dependent on opiates. In some cases people can feel withdrawals after a one time high dose. Your husband hasnt been on them very long so hopefully he will be over it in 3-5 days. I will post a link to the Thomas Recipe which some have felt helped them deal with detox. Good luck to you both.

Hi and welcome.. Just think of him having a bad flu.. The symptoms r about the same. Be positive with him it took a lot of guts and willpower for him to stop. Hopefully it won't be long as,he was not on them for a long time. Keep us informed and congrats on being there for him.. Hugs

I do think yes, he could be going through mild w/ds. Keep him hydrated, for muscle aches, epsom salt baths, immodium for the diarrea, and just stay positive with him! It doesn't take long for opiates to get u! Glad to hear he knew this so took himself off. Shows a lot of guts I think!
