Thank you so much for the pointers! Avisg-the carrot and celery pointer will do alot of good...everytime I want a smoke I go into the kitchen and eat somthing horrible for me. I will keep a bag of each veggie right in the front of the fridge so when I open it-thats what I see and will grab! And for the walks-also a brilliant idea. I will lose so much wieght this way (which I am trying to do)! I wish it would warm up a bit so I can start, right now it is -6degrees outside!! And we have blizzard like conditions..I do have an excersise bike that I can pull out and start using til It gets warm out. Road2Recovery-Good luck with this journey!!!! Im sure you can do it!!!! And florida_guy37- you are so right about giving up, it is sooo hard!!!! Driving is a trigger for me also...I ALWAYS light up while I drive..so that is one of the hardest things!!! But I know if I can quit a nasty benzo addiction I can quit smoking..
thank you all!!!

Hi...smokng was almost harder than the meds to give up. I liked what Avisg said about taking a walk; you have to do something until the craving passes. My smoking trigger was driving home after work; I was usually tired and thought a smoke would help...just busted through it...
I can definitely breathe easier and sleep better...not too mention all the cash I saved since I quit..those things cost money. :-)
I am really trying to quit too right now...since quitting the opiates ( that made me smoke so much more) i have gone down to half of a pack a day....But like you i want to quit , and my plan is for 09, we shall see ...lol...I never smoked for my pregnancies , no problem funny what we can do for our babies but not for ourselves..But i am hoping i can do this also....Avis--thanks for the pointers....

I found the easiest way was to just cold turkey it .I quit two and a half years ago from a 3 pack a day habit .Get lots of raw carrots and celery .I found that the thing that helped me the most was when I would get a bad craving I would go take a walk by the time i got back home the craving had passed .I have not had even one tiny puff since then.I love being smoke free .I have not had a cold since I quit I look better I feel better it is so worth it .
