I agree with DOLL88 . Requip which is what its called here in the US is Amazing for Restless legs...Its given to people with parkinson disease but for some reason they released it to people that have restless legs syndrome... If you can get your DR to prescribe it...is Quinnine a psychotic drug, or like the old qualude lol im not sure ive heard of it..Im in day 4 of my detox from oxys and morphine..im tired of trying to find them in florida, and I went to a detox once before, and I wont go back there..Id rather do it at home where I have Cable, and nice comfy bed not a World War 2 Cot they make you sleep on..I used my repuip and no restless legs at all...and I was a heavy user..Just my opinion

I am on day 11 of no methadone. I went through a whole bottle of Hylands-didn't notice much difference-that is me. What is working is hot soaks and I know this sounds weird but...
I have a Homemedic muscle massager, when I lay down I lay on my side and rest the massager on my very lower back and turn it up. The bed shakes like one of those motel beds you put a quarter in(haven't seen one of those in along while) it really helps me.
Good luck-there are so many caring people here willing to help. Keep posting. TEENA

it does seem a bit quick, but you should ask your dr. about this,i dont know how much the maximum dose for quinine pills is, i just drank tonic water, which has quinine in it, i dont think we get the hyland restful leg remedy in the uk, (not sure), the hot baths should help, restless legs can be caused by an iron deficiency, perhaps your dr. could check it out, stay strong and take care, sudie

Hey, when I was detoxing, I didn't really get restless leg syndrome, and if I did I didn't know it. But what has worked for me, especially when being or feeling lonely... Is meditation, I like to get a cup of coffee in the morning and grab a cig, and go outside and say 10 positive things about myself that will help me get through the day. You are doing the right thing, please just don't give up! Also try picking up an over the counter sleep aid, for your restless nights! Hope you start feeling better soon, we have all been there! Take care and stay connected with us! <3 Jess

Hi,

I am going through withdraws bad but I asked for a prescription for restless leg syndrome (Requip) I am in Canada, so I'm not sure what the name would be down there. It has worked amazingly!!!! also for the hot/cold clammy sweats that seem endless - I've been taking ibuprofen fever medication and that has taken away the sweats etc.. I know what your going through this is my 1/1/2 day.

Thanks,
Doll

i know i used Hylands restless leg medication...it is over the counter and completely natural. it worked somewhat, i know this might sound rather strange, but at the time people on here told me to put a bar of soap under my fitted bedsheet at night, dont know if it was mind over matter or what but it did seem to help. i was at my wits end, and pregnant too, i know wrapping up tight with ae bandages really helped as well. and like was said above, bananas help. good luck to you, i hated that part of w/d more than anything, i would get it not only in my legs but in my arms as well, it truly sucked.
good luck to you, i am sorry i dont know what quinine is, but i assume from what u r experiencing it cant be far off from vicodin, norco, etc. is it an opioid??  i do know about methadone and my opinion would be it souds like a rather quick wean. i mean, for drugs such as vicodin it takes longer than that, in my experience and i know methadone has a pretty bad w/d, so to drop so fast seems kinda strange, but again, that is only my opinion. i mean the point of methadone is to gt you to taper off, sounds more like they sent you out cold turkey so to speak.
i hope something i have said helps, good luck to you and keep reaching out. my NUMBER ONE source for getting through those bad times was being able to go onto this website, whether it was midnight, or 4 am, someone is always around to talk.

Thanks, I've actually got some quinine 200mg, do you know what the max dose i can take of them and how many? as i've taken a fair few but doesn't seem to help. I know a lot is psychological, i keep concentrating on it which makes it ten times worse. i was on methadone, my detox started on 35mls which i've been stable on for somtime now so monday i was on 35mls then tuesday they dropped me to 20mls then next day 10mls which was wednesday and was the last dose i had of the meth. They've put me on lofexidine to help with withdrawels. Can i ask do you think that is to quick of a detox the first bit of how quick they took me off the meth?? as someone said they thought it seemed a little quick? what do you think? Thanks for your add earlier :-) how was it for you?

hi, and welcome, i am also in the uk, i know what your going through, but it will certainly be worth it to get your life back, to help restless legs, take hot baths with epsom salts in, drink tonic water, its the quinine in it that helps, sounds odd but eating bananas helps, contains potassium, you will feel emotional, seems to be part of the withdrawal, get some valerian root for relaxation,   sounds silly, but what were you taking??
