Was taking 10 to percocets plus 4 to 6 oxycodones daily built up over four years from arthritis surgeries and pain. It's a plan and good to see that you have support from your son. Keep posting. Just FYI, Gnarly here ( actually several people in our community but I mentioned him because he commented above) Gnarly is filled with wisdom and highly respected. He knows his stuff. My point is that real help is available here. You are on your way to a new life. Congrats and God Bless.

Its a 6 day taper and i only have exactly enough for that. We put the meds in bags numbered 1 to 6. My grown up son gives me the appropriate bag. So Wednesday will be my last day. Figure I still will have pretty horrible three four days after that seeing speed of taper and was doing 10 percs 10/325 and 6 10mg Oxy's per day. But so far still determined. Almost upset I didn't just CT and power through, seems I'm going to have to do that anyway. Thanks for all the concern and help.

I'm so you checked in. I was getting concerned that you had given up.  Going CT from where you were would have been very rough no doubt. Tapering before stopping can be helpful but the downside for most of us is that we cannot taper alone - if we have them we take them. The "everything is fine" feeling they give usake us believe that breaking the taper schedule is okay. You need a clear schedule (preferably prescribed by your doctor) and a partner at home to dispense your meds. even this doesn't work for a lot of us but it's the absolute minimum most of us need to succeed. Congrats on your decision. Stay strong and keep us posted. God Bless!

Talked with some family members and they were really scared of me going cold turkey so I am tapering. Day three and know and not too bad irritated bad sleep etc. I know the hard part is really still ahead but want to thank all the positive support and any other expectations would be helpful. I still expect there will be withdrawal symptoms when I finally am down to none but not so severe. Any recommendations or support is helpful. All you guys are wonderful.

Hi  well your in the grip of this it is going to take a few days to get over the detox just remember this is 1/3 phyical and 2/3 mental your addiction will be screaming at you ''get loaded'' so be ready to fight it out on both fronts  I say this a lot but you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile if you can get out to the video store and pick up some movies it will keep you bizzy and take your mind off how lousy you feel it will also give you something to do wile your up all night most people do not sleep another thing that is important is to drink plenty of fluids gatoraid is good it has electorlights in it a hot bath really helps a lot of the symptoms take several a day until you feel better just know this can be done keep posting for support.

It sounds like you have the determination you need.  In addition to the excellent advice you've gotten so far you might want to make sure you have epsom salts for the bath and immodium.  In addition to protein shakes Gatorade seems to be tolerated well by a lot of WD'ers and Life Water w/electrolytes (one of the orange ones).  Make sure you don't get dehydrated or the symptoms will be much, much worse.

Come back often, post as much as you would like and I agree with ChasingFreedom...reading other posts really, really help....you won't feel so alone, you won't bash yourself so bad...when there are so many others going through the same thing how can you?

We applaud your determination.   This is the very best thing you can ever do for yourself.  For so long we let these stupid little pills take over the controls of our existence.  So many before you have achieved freedom.  It CAN be done.  Keep as busy as possible.   It helps to take your mind off of the symptoms.  Protein shakes and B vitamins help with low energy.  There is the Thomas recipe that has help many alleviate or lessen the symptoms too.  Read as many post as you can.  Everyone here has been where you are and can help with support and advice.  Hang in there and stay positive.

Hi and welcome!  wanted to lend you support as you start your journey....this site is amazing for support and info...any questions just ask...more will be along to help you and we can help thru the WD process....Let us know what symptoms pop up and we can give you some info on how to ease some of it.  Great job on wanting to reclaim your life!!  You can do this....won't be a walk in the park, but it's doable..if you really really want it and follow up with some type of aftercare when the mental sets in.  Good luck and keep posting for support!!
