A year ago Today *HOPE*

Thankful!
If there is one word I had for Medhelp and the people on here it would be THANKFUL…Grateful…
This time last year I was scared alone hurt and addicted, Addicted to Methadone for 8 years, weed for 15 years, coke for 10 crack for 8 on and off, I was also on any pain and muscle relaxer I could get my hands on and was starting to get into molly. This time last year my x had overdosed for the 2nd or 3rd time in 2 months and I hit my knees and prayed, I went to church…and I gained hope and faith…it took time but in June of 2013 I was free…in June of 2013 I found Medhelp!
I went to jail on false charges later released and charges dropped, it gave me the courage to move on my own…with no parents no financial help, it was physically and mentally beaten into me that I cant make this on my own, I had 4 options 1. Stay and die 2. Leave and keep using 3. Leave and get clean 4. Kill myself
so in June of 2013 I moved I couldn’t find my pain meds…I prayed…I laid in bed and detoxed myself with the help of this site the suggestions of NA I am now FREE!!…and with the exception of a joint I have not had one line, one shot, one drink, one pill, one hit since June 25,2013!
And I couldn’t have done it without you and without NA
Though my clean date changed I still am DARN proud of who I am becoming and what I am doing!
I go to meetings every day, I am there for people, I show up! I go to church I volunteer and I have REAL FRIENDS! Every day is an adventure and I am TRULY FREE! I am done with step one 
Life isn’t perfect I have trouble with bills, fleas and life in general still no car…but I don’t have to use no matter what! I have family who loves me though they aren’t blood we love each other!!! And I have even started talking to a guy which is scary, but I know no matter the storm if I don’t use and always do the next right thing, pick up the phone, stay active in recovery, and keep busy…I can do this, and TODAY I don’t have to use, WE DON’T HAVE TO USE!! If I can do it anyone can
Thank you Med help

Heather,

You've faced some difficult challenges this year & in a city with quite a few young addicts (to put it mildly:) I'll never forget when you first came on & how difficult it was for you. You stuck with it & found your way through the maze & my hat is so off to you. You used MH for all it's worth!  NA & your Faith pulled you the rest of the way. Most of all though, it's you that's done all this & are now able to be Grateful for the fruits of your labor. Thanks for showing such commitment & for posting to inspire others. Well done, you! Take a bow.:)

I fought aftercare like the plauge. I was terrified of bring judged, of looking dumb, scared of failure, but even without drugs my problems were there, and i was crazy. It took several mh ppl to tell me to go or they werent going to talk to me any more. I have been going 7 months and have missed 3 meetings. My new clean date is 2/2/14 cause of a joint....but i am darn proud of myself and how far i have come. I know if i can do it anyone can

You have done very well, all I can say is WOW!  That was a lot of drugs you were on, and a lot of drugs you've come off!  It's inspiring to see so many people getting clean with the help of MedHelp and N/A.  I to go to N/A and have met some of the best people I've ever known there!  Love the pic!  Charging forward!

It's such a delight to see your name on the forum today! Your progress is EVIDENT......your thinking, your attitude, your gratitude is shining bright☼

I can't remember....and if you aren't comfortable sharing this......it's perfectly understandable....but would you want to share with other forum readers how long you resisted getting involved in aftercare?  Knowing it has become such a blessing to your life.....I can't help but remember how stubborn and resistant you were way back when....LOL

It's been pure joy to watch you blossom and grow, Heather.  Hope you will stop in once in awhile and not only let us know how you are doing but help the newcomer here on the forum.  You have a lot to give, girl~

Your one year date of 6/25/13 will be easy to remember as my clean date is 6/23/12.......keep on believin' and bloomin~
