I was addicted to that horrible drug for 8yrs and it always made my voice sounded hoarse and scrathy everytime i used. My noticeable feature evertime i used was my pupils, they were almost non-existant. I really hope for your sake and his that he is not still using, it stole most of my life and the thought of it grasping someone else's is terrifying.
Yes due to its effect on depressing the respiritory system. Also small pupils. My son was addicted and I couldn't tell the difference. Until he was about 6 wks into it and I noticed his computer was gone, his cell phone was turned off for not paying the bill, All kinds of drama starts in their life. People at work are treating him unfair....self pity. That will be a sign. Also getting a credit card bill for $8,000 that you never used. That really opened my eyes.
could be a cold...but do you see him often? if so, of course check his pupils (they will be pinpoint, almost non-existant), track marks if he was an IV user, which can be anywhere, not just in the arms, ankles, wrists back of hands, anywhere... nodding off, slurred speech, very slow responses...of course this is if he is using, if he is in withdrawals, he will act like he has the flu, watery eyes and nose, stomach cramps, frequent bathroom trips, achey-sore muscles, sleeping alot, lethargic and very distant in mood..
hope this helps...
I don't know for sure whether that is or not, but my uncle has also been a long time user of heroin (16 months recovered though!), and I do believe I remember my aunt saying something about him sounding that way after he had used. Hopefully someone else knows for sure and will post soon.
yes, also check his pupils. It's not a definate sign...but a probable reason to further investigate
